Welcome Natalia! This is a great group to get information on different jobs in the industry! I hope you enjoy the group!
Hello, I am Di Wen.. I'm a 16 year old from Singapore looking to apply to fashion design courses in universities when the time comes.. I am really interested in Fashion, especially the different trends, the unique styles and characteristics of famous designers, and especially fashion history. I'm quite new to a lot of this, hope you don't mind! ^.^
Dear Di Wen. You only need this one book to get you started: it is the book that I wish had been available to me as a young costume design student & later, as a working professional.( I sold my first design at age 13) This book makes other history of costume books...already in libraries...more easily understood . Over 700 of my own illustrations, arranged by decades show the sequential evolution of styles from 1860 to the 21st centuries. Men, women & children are illustrated. My book. , OUT-OF-STYLE: A Modern Perspective of HOW, WHY & WHEN Vintage Fashions Evolved, has won four awards for Best Book...these are not "designs", they are "composites" of style clues that identify each decade .It includes gems of social history that will inform & amuse you. Since you are in Singapore you will be interested in seeing how different countries dressed and where their influences originated. Please see my website: www.OutofStyleTheBook.com . If you buy my book from Amazon, please send them a good (5-star?) review & I will mail you a personal autograph that sticks into your book .Good Luck! Betty Kreisel Shubert:

HiI am really interested in fashion design and fashion history. I attended art school, and majored in apparel design. I am fascinated by vintage dressmaking and couture techniques. I love to read sewing books too. I have read, and continue to read just about any book on fashion history I can get my hands on. Right now I am reading the second book in the Basics Fashion Design series - Textiles and Fashion. I also read Marie Claire and Vogue. I am interested in other subjects as well, but fashion design is one of my favorite topics to learn about.

Bonjour! I joined this group because I have been working in the fashion industry for over three decades and I just wrote my first (fashion) fiction called Wildchilds.
I am on the lookout for good books and films about the industry and get kinda sad and frustrated when they are lame and packed with stereotypes and clichés.
I love and respect this industry and I am curious to see how it evolves and updates.
I am currently contributing on a few literary platforms and I am giving the subject of our passion for fashion a lot of thought, for the good and the bad aspects of it.
I look forward to sharing thoughts and reviews on proposed readings.
Bonjour! sorry for the repeat but somehow I had two profiles on GR and they were not merged!

You must have some great Hollywood stories ! I have not written my Hollywood section for the 40s yet ( had to stop to get on with proposal! ) but would love to talk a little about it if Ok when I get back to it.
Yes --- have seen the book by Marsha Hunt and I agree she is much more 'real' that the magazines both in her wardrobe clothes and the things she writes about... thought it was a really great book.... may actually go back to it for the 40s chapter.
Betty lets keep in touch will tell you all about my new book - would love to hear what you think.
Stay well --- enjoy your week !
