Cheryl A. I am reading An Izzy Palmer Mystery series by Benedict Brown. I started with A Corpse in the Freezer A Corpse in the Freezer (An Izzy Palmer Novella, #0) by Benedict Brown (a funny and cute short story) and now reading A Corpse Called Bob A Corpse Called Bob by Benedict Brown already 🤣 - and only a ¼ in so far! Will stay with this series for 2 more novellas and another novel!

QNPoohBear I stayed up too late reading A Sprinkle in Time A Sprinkle in Time (Shake Shop Mystery, #2) by Dana Mentink

Noodles is just so darn adorable. A yodeling dog! He needs to enter the contest next Alpenfest. I worry about him with winter coming up. Trin's solution of cutting down a teen jacket won't work for a dog. Dog coats need to be longer in back than front and a boy dog needs to be able to lift his leg to pee LOL! Cute idea though.

Papa Luis is great too. I bet he stays.

The mystery took a different turn than I expected and while it was implausible and I guessed whodunit quickly, I still couldn't put it down.

I really like this setting. The train car café B&B sounds neat and even the scenic railway is a good idea BUT not at the expense of cutting down old growth trees or cutting a tree and not replanting. The burning of the burger was weird but fun.

The ice cream OMG! I want one of those shakes. Even in winter LOL! Felice is one lucky little girl to get to make her own for her big 0-6!

Cheryl A. Finished A Corpse Called Bob A Corpse Called Bob by Benedict Brown by Benedict Brown

I am so glad I decided to read the whole series up to a required group June reading challenge book! Very funny series with lots of actions "beyond the realm of reality" such as having police help the amateur sleuth by giving them clues.

I added this one to my tbr as soon I read the first of his Lord Edgington series. The latter has a serious tone to it, but the one you read sounded funny just from the synopsis. I'm happy to know that it really is humorous!

message 159: by Meg (new)

Meg I'm reading two books concurrently, unusual for me as I like to only read one book at a time.

Cruel Winter A County Cork Mystery (A County Cork Mystery) by Sheila Connolly Cruel Winter

Murder in the Cookbook Nook (Book Retreat Mysteries, #7) by Ellery Adams Murder in the Cookbook Nook

Laura Emerson Just finished Rita Mae Brown The Litter of the Law Rita Mae and her friends have done it again! Though I realize that every great series must someday come to an end and that the success of the series will keep it in print and on audio for years to come - ensuring that I can escape back to my hometown through the stories whenever I want or need to, I have no problem with admitting that I've gotten very attached to Harry Harristein and her Crozet friends - and I'll sorely miss their new adventures once the series is complete.

Nell Read Drawn and Buttered by Shari Randall. Third, and apparently last, in the Lobster Shack mystery series. The MC is a dancer working at her aunt's lobster shack while she recovers from an injury. The book ends with her return to the stage. It was a good trilogy.

I have them all in e-book format. What I don't have is a library that will react in a way that yours did. You are a lucky reader.

message 173: by Cassie (new)

Cassie Luffy I do have a great public library. Apparently these 2 books in the Molly Murphy series were checked out and never returned at some point so they will purchase them. My library will also purchase most requests from patrons, as long as the books are not expensive. In fact they’ve purchased everything I’ve asked for. It just takes awhile to get the books to the shelves. I don’t like e-books because I have so much screen time with my job.

Duly noted. But I hope you give e-ink screens some consideration. Do Google if appropriate.

Karen ** Men, Murder & Makeup (Drag Queen Detective #1) by Shane K. Morton ** Divas, Death & Drag (Drag Queen Detective, #2) by Shane K. Morton **
Recently finished two books in a new-to-me series, Drag Queen Detective, by Shane K Morton. I don't remember if I first saw it in a freebie newsletter or what, but it sounded fun so I TBRed it. I picked up book one a couple of weeks ago. I enjoyed it so much that I read he second a few days later.

* Men, Murder & Makeup ** My Review **
* Divas, Death & Drag ** My Review **

The series "stars" Victor Sommers. Vic is a hair stylist by day and, as his drag alter ego Raven Ronelle, the emcee of a local bar's drag show by night. Unbeknownst to the people in town Vic has another alter ego (and another career!) as the reclusive Vicki Dean, best-selling mystery novelist.

The language is a bit more "colorful" than the usual cozy -- and seemed a bit stereotypical to me, but I don't really know the "drag" world enough to say if that's true. It isn't off-putting, just a bit more than.

So far, so good.
