That was totally weird but marks a major turning point for Lori, I think. Try the recipe. Claire's Lace is totally addicting! Don't burn your mouth eating them hot out of the oven!

I was a little surprised by a couple occurences in the book. I'm really geared up for the next one.

I'll look at the recipe -- I'm intrigued!

QNPoohBear Aunt Dimity: Detective is a good one. I love Finch! The latest few books have been very good and my real life book club is impatiently awaiting the next one in 2025!

Meg Good to know! I have it in my Audible library and if I can squeeze it in in September I will. I had a bunch of library audiobooks that were on hold suddenly pop up so this month's tbr is already full.

Vanessa No cozy mysteries currently. I needed to take a break and move to a different genre. I had some other books I needed to get to.

QNPoohBear I read Ambushed in the Alps Ambushed in the Alps (Travel P.I. Mysteries, #2) by Zara Keane
Wow the body count was high and the zany humor was rather lacking compared to the first book. I didn't see the twist coming at all.

I hope she writes more in this series. I like Angel and Sidney. I can do without the rest of Omega.

Murder, She Knit
by Peggy Ehrhart

Good first in series, pretty good variety of characters and got a feel for the town. I was very pleased they got the cat and cat info right.
I did audio because that's what was available from library but a friend is reading it from Kindle Unlimited.

QNPoohBear Sales, Secrets & Suspects Sales, Secrets & Suspects (Dogwood Springs Cozy Mystery, #2) by Sally Bayless quite a lot but I'm annoyed because there's a hook that keeps me wanting more. Also, the author has clearly never worked at a small non-profit historical museum. Tourists don't come on nice sunny weekdays in August and the museum simply doesn't earn any profit. School groups are the bread and butter even if they get a discount. I may have PTSD when I read the next one LOL! Hopefully there's not too many school groups in Dogwood Springs. Thankfully THAT is not my problem anymore.

I have the first two in the series. Picked them up because of my time as a volunteer at small non-profit art museum but that may also be the reason I keep putting off reading them. School groups could be good visitors when properly prepared.

message 1366: by Meg (new)

Meg I'm finishing up #35 in the Meg Langslow series. And, yes, I'm up-to-date with this series. It's another good one but not as humorous as some previous ones, imo. Though I've been a little distracted these days so maybe I just missed out.

Between a Flock and a Hard Place (Meg Langslow, #35) by Donna Andrews Between a Flock and a Hard Place

The next one is much better. Home Tours, History & Homicide
The museum administration sounds more accurate. No school groups, thankfully! It's summer and hot and the museum's HVAC system needs to be replaced and they need an elevator to access the second floor. A historic home tour fundraiser is planned and a donor has promised $15,000 for the new elevator and may be convinced to switch to funding the new HVAC. A museum with an HVAC is a rarity here in New England! An elevator is necessary but then they get old and break down and have to be totally replaced.

The mystery was OK. I didn't care who killed Karl. He was not a likable person. Once again Bella is the bestest, goodest girl ever!

I did a keyword search in the next one for the painting just to find out what happened.

Did you find this more romance or more mystery? I see there are two books in the series. The second has different characters and a "hidden treasure" theme.

Karen A Ghoul's Gotta Do (Ghost Hunter Mystery, #11) by Victoria Laurie
Has anyone read the latest in Victoria Laurie's Ghost Hunter series, A Ghoul's Gotta Do? It's the first she's added to that series since 2016 (when she supposedly ended it).

I just watched an interview with Victoria Laurie on YouTube for the book and what prompted her to write it. I haven't been able to find it a local libraries and -- at least so far -- it's only available at Amazon. She does mention she plans to get it to Barnes & Noble soon. (???)

If you've read it, what did you think?

This was (is) a favorite series. I was happy when she spun off one of the characters (Gilley) and paired him with Abby Cooper's (Psychic Eye series) sister, Cat, in the Live Coach series. I loved Gilley and Cat together. Gilley is in the new Ghost Hunter book and I'm wondering if he's still working with Cat.

Laurie was asked what's coming up and mentioned another Ghost Hunter (13), another Psychic Eye (18). and entries in her newest series. What she didn't mention was an addition to the Life Coach (Cat Cooper) series -- which I thoroughly enjoy. :o(

Alice I finished Come Shell or High Water Come Shell or High Water by Molly MacRae by Molly MacRae. This book was just okay for me. It seemed like it ran around in circles a bit. I thought the best character was the ghost. I have liked her other series but this one wasn't as good.
