Willa Bauer is thrilled to be hosting a stop for Phoebe Winston on her tour promoting her new cookbook. The celebrity chef is sure to bring in lots of people to Willa’s new cheese shop. However, when Willa meets Phoebe, she discovers the author is a bit of a diva, with demands that make the event a much harder prospect than Willa bargained for. Then Phoebe is murdered in the house she was renting in the area, with Willa’s employee Archie the last person on the property’s security system. Can Willa figure out what happened?

I enjoyed the first book in the series, but this was even stronger. We meet Phoebe long enough to know what a pain she is before she dies, but then we learn even more, opening up the suspect pool. The climax becomes a race to figure things out, and I was along for the twists that kept coming at that point. I was thrilled that the supporting players got a bigger role this time around. They are fantastic, and I enjoyed spending time with all of them. I grew up in Sonoma County, so I have a special connection with the setting even if I did have to move my mental map of the fictional town where most of the action takes place. This book will leave you hungry for cheese, so the three recipes at the end will be welcome. I’m already anxious to see what happens to Willa and the others in the next in the series.

I like the team approach to these cozies. This is the only series I have personally come across that does that. Willa's still the MC, but she actively works with and the other supporting characters are integrally a part of the investigation. Willa couldn't and doesn't do it alone. Makes it more interesting.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Trying to grow her business, Curds & Whey, cheesemonger Willa Bauer is both nervous and excited to welcome Phoebe Winston, a vegan influencer to her shop for a demonstration to promote her new book. Phoebe is a very demanding guest and she was immediately taken in by Willa’s employee Archie choosing him to take on duties that would usually done by her own assistant Thomas. After giving instructions to Willa about all the ingredients she will need for her demo, telling her how to rearrange the venue, to order more chairs, and sticking a pin in Willa’s confidence Phoebe “sailed out with Thomas in tow just as she swept in – – like a tornado.

But then the wind is knocked out of Phoebe’s sails when photos are published revealing that she is not a vegan at all. Willa sees the hit her business takes quickly when people fill the street into Curds & Whey demanding refunds for her big event. She needs to try to get the Book and Cook back on track so she and Archie take off to try to talk to Phoebe. When they arrive they find the woman dead in the bathtub. The death is soon determined to be murder and Archie believed to be the last person to see her alive is pegged to be the prime suspect.

Willa knows that Phoebe may be “Gone for Gouda” but she would bet her last wheel of cheese Archie had no part in her death and she is going to prove it.

All the core characters from the first book Cheddar Off Dead return and I was so happy to see some nice character development. We learned more about all of them. I was glad to see Willa emerge stronger after Phoebe took a swing at her confidence. She still needs to work on her amateur sleuthing skills and not accuse every one of her suspects right from the start but her way sure makes the story interesting. What made me the happiest was that while her romantic life is still up in the air she didn’t come off as so man crazy in this story. The triangle was still there but it was not as distracting as in the first book.

The mystery of Phoebe’s death was very cleverly plotted with a nice number of suspects. She was not a nice woman and had done some very shady things in her past. The author drops plenty of clues throughout the book and I thought I had the right person in my sights until an event twisted things up again. I enjoyed the way everyone pulled together to solve the mystery and took part not in just one rescue but two.

I liked the subplot of the fall festival and the float making with Willa’s unique project she made for the float. She received a lot of funny grief for it.

I was delighted by mouth-watering cheese dishes described too. There are recipes at the back of the book and I have already copied down the one for Cheesy Apple Pockets. They sound like a great autumn treat.

Gone for Gouda is an entertaining whodunit with a solid mystery and fun characters. Mrs. Schultz continues to be my fave.

Cheesemaker Willa Bauer owns a Northern California cheese shop called Curds and Whey. Although celebrity vegan chef Phoebe Winston is very demanding, Willa is happy to be hosting the young woman's cookbook signing for the publicity it will bring to the shop. It seems to be working because there are lines of people waiting to see the chef and cookbook author, but Phoebe is a no-show. Willa later learns Phoebe was found murdered in the bathtub of her rental house and one of Willa's employees is the prime suspect, so Willa is determined to prove his innocence.

This is the second book in the Cheese Shop Mystery series. As Willa starts investigating, she learns there are several people who may have wanted Phoebe dead. I like that this gives Willa plenty of suspects to investigate. Her tendency to jump to conclusions each time she finds another possible suspect gets a little frustrating, though. Overall, the investigation is interesting and I was surprised by the ending which is a plus.

The romance aspect has been a weak part of this series for me, but has a lot of potential. For now, the mystery and the setting make up for it. I enjoy the series and will definitely be on the lookout for the next in this series when it comes out.

I received an advance copy of this ebook at no cost from NetGalley through the courtesy of St. Martin's. However, my review is voluntary and unbiased.

Gone for Gouda is the second installment in the new cheese shop mystery.
Willa Bauer loves cheese, her new shop is doing well, and when she lines up a vegan influencer to visit the shop, she couldn't be more pleased.
Those pleasant thoughts turn dark very quickly when said influencer is murdered and Willa's employee is a suspect.

I really like this book, the characters are entertaining, fresh and new, which is always nice to find.
I'm looking forward to reading this series as it continues.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

This is a fun series. I like the characters (Wila) was annoying toward the end of the book. But that’s just my take. Loretta the fish is spectacular!!

I love books like this because of the red herrings. I love sitting wherever I am and thinking “I KNOW WHO DID IT!” only to discover…I didn’t. When clues are discovered I like being able to agree that they are legit. I also like being able to disagree with clues.

If you’re looking for a fun, light COZY mystery…check out this series. And also if you appreciate cheese!!

In this second addition to the Cheese Shop Mystery series, we once again return to Yarrow Glen, along with all the loveable cast of characters from the first book, and into a brand new mystery! I will say this for the contents of this book: there's definitely more of an emphasis on the mystery than the cheese this time around, and I think that's just what we need!

___________

So, what's up? Well, fast forward to October and an Oktoberfest-like atmosphere, in which everyone's preparing for a festive parade that showcases their shops coming soon. Apart from that, Willa's also got a famous cooking/lifestyle influencer coming to host in her shop, which means a lot of profits and publicity that her new business needs.

And if that influencer happens to be a difficult person to deal with...well, that's alright because her cute lil' pup and all the fans she's bringing in are sure to make things worth it, right?

Er...wrong, considering that she's actually a phony and...

...gets murdered as well. Whoops!

Well, the biggest whoopsie yet is that poor Archie, poor sweet awkward Archie whom we all know and love, seems to be suspect #1, and the police have no other leads.

You bet your bottom boots that Willa's NOT going to take this sitting down!

And so ensues another captivating cozy mystery to add to this series.

What can I say except that I quite loved everything some start to finish yet again; and, although I did guess who the killer was this time around, there were still a few twists in place right up until the end. So...yeah, worth it?

Totally, cheesily worth it.

Another delightful and delicious mystery in my new favorite series. I think just between book 1 and 2 Willa has grown a lot in both her sleuthing and how she has seamlessly integrated into her new town. As before, I absolutely love all the "side" characters and how she works with so many people to gather clues and investigate. This one was definitely had more heart pounding moments and also some very sweet ones. As always I was hungry the entire time reading this and need to make some of the recipes in the back. I was completely shocked by the ending and it honestly made me a bit sad. I'm also rooting for a certain romance which I can't tell if it will pan out or not, but I'm enjoying the subtly of it. I can't wait for more!

Gone for Gouda is a delight (cheese and all)! The second entry in the series sees cheesemonger Willa Bauer grow both in her strengths in her cheese store and in her two possible romantic entanglements - more importantly, her loyalty to friends is apparent as she tries to prove the innocence of teen employee, Archie, who is the chief suspect in the murder of an alleged celebrity vegan influencer who turns out to not be what she appears. Author Korina Moss gives the readers plenty of plausible suspects, twists and turns, and wonderful recipes. A perfect fun read.

Yarrow Glen is preparing for the Fall festival. Local businesses are teaming up to create a float. Willa and her cheese shop are hosting celebrity vegan chef Phoebe Winston. It should be something to look forward to. Unfortunately someone is intent on ruining things and pictures come out showing Phoebe isn't a vegan after all. But it's more serious than anyone realizes when Phoebe turns up dead. With Archie the main suspect Willa must do everything she can to find the killer.

This is a great installment in a great series. Willa and her friends are the best. I love the way they watch out for each other and work to solve the case. It feels like one big, cozy family.

The mystery is really good with multiple things going on, making it harder for everyone to find the killer. I love the way the characters discuss the murder. Their thought processes and the questions they ask are smart and logical. In some mysteries things or tangents are never mentioned that seem logical or obvious. That isn't the case here. I guessed the killer but not the why.

I love background characters and their storylines developing subtly in the background. It makes Yarrow Glen feel like a real place with people going about their lives while the pages are closed. However, they won't stay closed for long as you'll want to read the next book immediately.

I received an advance copy of this book via NetGalley.

Gone for Gouda continues an incredibly fun cozy mystery series set in a fictional California village of Yarrow Glen. Willa runs the cheese shop Curds & Whey. As this book starts up, she's a ball of stress as she prepares to host a major vegan social media influencer who is kicking off a book tour with cooking demonstrations. When the influencer is outed in new pics online that show her eating meat, things go from bad to worse--to much worse, as Willa finds the woman dead. When her assistant becomes a person of interest as the last person to see the vic alive, Willa goes into full amateur detective mode to find the real culprit.

This book was a solid four stars of fun. It's a speedy read with lots of fun cheese asides. Willa manages to strike the right balance of being nosey without being totally obnoxious. I have to admit, the actual culprit came as a surprise to me, which was great! I love when a mystery keeps me guessing right up to the end.

This book was so much fun! It was the perfect book to read right now as it’s set in fall in a small town in California.

I haven’t read book one (Cheddar Off Dead) but was able to read this one with no issues! I loved Willa, owner of Curds & Whey cheese shop. She had her hands full with how many suspects she was investigating. I thought she was a good amateur detective; not over the top annoying while figuring it out!

There was also a good cast of secondary characters and I can see a potential romance blossoming which I love to see! I didn’t solve this one so I enjoyed solving it right along with Willa. Plus, there are three recipes in the back for Bavarian Beer Cheese, Cheesy Apple Pockets, and Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese. Yum!

Looking forward to reading more of this series in the future!

"My list of things still to do was as long as a CVS receipt."

Yarrow Glen is the coziest California town, unless you're being murdered I suppose. Willa has scored a chance to host vegan celebrity, Phoebe Winston in her cheese shop. Phoebe is one of those characters that rubs you the wrong way buuuuuuut did she really deserve to be caught on camera with meat in her mouth??? Ehhh the jury is out. Archie, Willa's employee, is enthralled with Phoebe and quite possibly the last person to see her alive. Dun, dun, dun!!! Willa must prove Archie is innocent before it's too late....and before she becomes Danby on arrival.

Ok, I'll work more on my cheese puns but for now, another winner in the Cheese Shop Mystery series!

When Willa owner of Curds and Whey gets to host an event for vegan influencer Phoebe, Willa is delighted for her cheese shop to be in the spotlight. When Phoebe ends up murdered it’s up to Willa and her friends to find the murderer and set the story straight. This was such a fun cozy mystery learning about different kinds of cheeses in an idyllic small town setting that made me want to visit. The characters were well developed, humorous and supported each other. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

This is second book in this series and I enjoyed coming back Yarrow Glenn.

Our heroine Willa Braun welcomed to her her cheese shop Vegan author Phoebe Winston who will be doing a vegan demonstration of vegan cheese in promotion of a cook book Phoebe has written. Willa is doing this to get publicity for her shop.

Right at beginning Phoebe is demanding and difficult and just not nice. Phoebe basically takes Archie (who is a Curds and Whey employee of Willa’s) away from the shop to assist her while she is in town. This upsets Thomas a lot who is her personal assistant.

Right before the demonstration pictures come out of Phoebe eating ’meat’ thus blowing her credibility as a vegan influencer. Willa has to deal with refunds for the demonstration and after dealing with upset fans she decides to confront Phoebe and after she arrives at Phoebe’s rented house finds her dead.

This is a good mystery and Willa has a lot of suspects. All the cast from first book is here and we get to know them better. A secondary plot happening is Willa is trying to get a float made to represent her shop in an upcoming parade which is pretty funny.

This was a great read and my only small suggestion is I feel it is about two chapters too long otherwise it is a great read and I’m looking forward to next book in series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by St. Martin’s paperbacks provided by NetGalley. The opinions of this review is my own.

This was as good as the first book. I love the town and the characters and the close knit family of friends that Willa has made in Yarrow Glen. Willa and her friends discuss the murder and try to piece it together, which is so fun to read. The mystery was good with enough twists and turns. I cant wait for the next book to come out.

I've done it again! I've picked up a random book in a cozy mystery series. But this time it worked out well for me; it worked well as a standalone and I really enjoyed the story and characters. The main character is very down to earth and even a little bit snarky, and the supporting characters rounded and fully developed. If you like smalltown cozies give this one a try, and move it up your TVR further if you would enjoy exploring some interesting cheese recipes.

A fun read, particularly if you like stories about behind the scenes of making a tv show. Willa, the owner of a cheese shop, is feeling lucky that her store will be the site where a celebrity chef will film a tv episode. But the great experience Willa expects is quickly is filled with holes--not like a good swiss (yeah, a terrible pun)--when she has her store and life are turned upside down by the demands of the chef. Then, the chef is killed...

This is one case where you are glad the obnoxious murder victim is killed. Yeah, I didn't like her but I did like most of the other characters. A decent mystery and a fairly typical cozy.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest opinion.

Do you need a break from this thing we call life?

Gone for Gouda is a cozy mystery that’ll make you hungry while you giggle.

The characters are all fun in that goofy way of cozies. Plus, there’s a dog involved, which always adds to a book’s charm for me.

The murder mystery is light but complex enough to keep you guessing.

We also have a budding romance, or maybe two, and recipes at the end to ease the hunger pains.

This is book 2 in the Cheese Shop Mysteries Series. I didn’t read the first book, and I had no problem jumping right in.
