The Mystery of Mistletoe Hall : A 1920s Mystery
by Benedict Brown
I skipped ahead in the series for two reasons: I needed a Christmas book and I wanted to see if Christopher matured. I liked this better than the first book in the series and didn't find Christopher as irritating but that could be because this was ebook and I could speed read parts while I did first book in audio. Haven't decided if I will read more of this series.

Shifting and Shenanigans
by Elizabeth Pantley
Not as humorous as I hoped from some of the reviews. Yes, it is as over the top heavy on tropes as reviews indicated and I found it kind of entertaining but I also found it kind of boring and for me it wasn't laugh out loud funny.

Not loving it so far. It's an older one and darker backstory for the heroine than I would like. Darker story too. The first scene is grim (view spoiler) Not enough blueberry baking so far and I just got to the second murder.["br"]>["br"]>

I like that series and it always makes me want to go to tea on the Cape. My big problem with the series is that it feels generic seaside and nothing about it says Cape Cod to me, as someone who grew up spending summers on the Cape and has family there.

About a year ago, I was so looking forward to reading this because it sounded great, but I read that first scene and it was kinda horrifying. That is not a cozy. I was so disappointed and couldn't read further. It took me a while to get over that scene.

Thanks for the warning.
I'm not over the "cozy" that started with gruesome murder and victim burying. Murder scenes from murderer or victim POV are not cozy.

The Vampire Knitting Club: Cornwall
by Nancy Warren
Want more. Want more now. If the next book were already available I'd be reading it instead of writing this.
New vampires, new witches, mystery, murder, and Lochlan Balfour (Vampire Reading Club). When I'm reading scenes with him Lochlan is my favorite vampire so he added to me liking the book. This book made me very happy except it ended too soon. I wanted more!
ETA: Some reviews have criticized the ending as being too abrupt but I didn't see it that way. The case was solved in part due to info early in book so it wasn't out of nowhere solution. After resolution there's talk about upcoming Knitting Club meeting but that is part of series story arc so for me not having meeting in book is not a cliffhanger.

I was horrified too and almost put it down. I gave it a chance and the second murder is off page but the heroine does some REALLY dumb stuff in her investigation, for no good reason.

There were different narrators for each book and both were dreadful for different reasons.

The newest one is far better in terms of toning down the secondary characters. I too find them both annoying. I like the series but it's not a top favorite. The Cape Cod content is super generic seaside and I wish it was a little more specific. I didn't grow up on that side of the Cape though.

I'm glad to hear that Bernie and Rose are toned down in future books!

Yup. I think it can be done cozy, like from the killer's POV depending on how it's done. But it seems generally those are not cozies at all.
From the victim's POV? That'd be tricky to make "cozy" so I'd probably avoid those too - when I know in advance.
Anytime I can warn someone - I'm glad! I get warned by so many people in my life, I'm glad I can pay it forward!

Ugh. The doing dumb stuff in the investigation for no reason thing seems to be happening a lot lately. I don't know if it's a trend or I'm reading the wrong books!
I'm loving the Seaglass books by Sherry Harris!!!!
Three Shots to the Wind

I'm also listening to

A Murderous Tryst

Funny and sweet as usual. It occurs JUST as A Lark's Flight is ending so be sure you read Verity's story first or risk spoilers. It was fun to see Damien's reaction and I do hope Bea and Verity team up for an investigation soon. Poor Kesgrave will just have to accept it and make sure Bea's self-defense lessons continue! I think Verity already knows that.

Jealous! I'm in the queue for the library copy! My friend jumped in after me but since her home library has a copy on order, she'll likely get it before me. The cover is gorgeous!

I'm on the library list for the audio. Luckily it's one of the audios where the library is getting 100+ copies so I should get it day after tomorrow.

It will be well worth the wait."
I could have requested the ARC but I prefer to support the library whenever possible. I love Jenn's mysteries and sometimes her romcoms. I'm eager for Vol. 2 of the cupcake cookbook. I made Moonlight Madness cupcakes and they were sooo good, like a Mounds Bar.

I read the ARCs when I can get them, but then I check out a copy from my library when it's available. I usually turn it back in after just a day or two, so I don't hold things up for the next person on the holds list.

Not the best of the bunch. I figured out whodunit really early on. The clues were all there and Mrs. Jeffries didn't catch them. Still, it was fun to catch up with everyone and see what they've been up to.

Murder 101
Kitchen Witch Mystery by Lynn Cahoon. I read the first short story and book a couple of months ago and liked it but got distracted.

The library mistakenly had this labeled as the second book. There were some spoilers for #2 which I have not yet read. It was much better than the first one but the motive for murder doesn't make much sense. I did not guess it was that person.
