But the first in the Cat in the Stacks series is great, too. So go back to book 1 on that series. :)

Me either! It's popular! I am #7 in the queue and I had checked earlier in the week to see if they had Jenn's holiday romcom novella! My real life friend is just behind me and there are currently 11 holds and it hasn't even been cataloged yet!

Ditto! (Hence why the "wiggle room" in my reading plan.)

Jenn McKinlay is doing a live event for the book at the Poisoned Pen this weekend (Saturday, 2p MST). I'm hoping they stream it or at least post it later on their YouTube site. From their site (https://poisonedpen.com/): Come for the story: Hip hip, beret! British hat makers Scarlett Parker and Vivian Tremont return and must collar a killer when a castle wedding goes awry -- Stay for the Best Hat Contest

I'll have to see if my sister-in-law is attending.

I'm #8 of 8 and so excited! I keep checking obsessively even though I'm in the middle of two other books. As others were talking earlier, I started this year with a list of the books I wanted to read in order. I've been putting books on hold that I don't own - I love this schedule-system my library has come up with because I've got a book set to be delivered to my branch in September! (It's Halloween-themed.) That sounds so organized. It's funny how I'll go to my bookshelf and discover one book I don't own in the series. Luckily, my library is very well-equipped so I can grab it and keep reading of the books I own. I'm trying to finish the series I've started as well as purging my physical copies.
I have been looking forward to "Fatal Fascinator"!

Keep reading and as long as the publisher is buying, she'll keep writing. Although Jenn and hubs did mention the "r" word as in "retirement planning". I don't ever want her to retire, even though she undoubtedly deserves a break!

message 476: by L J (last edited Jan 09, 2023 06:25AM) (new)

L J Still reading Winter Witches of Holiday Haven Series. Though these are described as Christmas Paranormal Cozy Mystery not all of them are Christmas. First books are Christmas followed by summer solstice (though they seem to celebrate it in July?) and now I'm reading the books taking place the next Christmas.

I like some more than others but most are enjoyable cozy paranormal with reasonably good mystery plot, interesting setting, and appealing characters. Some had too much family stress/angst to suit me but then I tend to avoid books with angsty family drama no matter what the genre.

At the very bottom, to the right, of each person's post is "reply" a line and then the symbol of a flag and the faded word "flag" - at least, that's what I see. You'd hit the link "reply" and then a comment box pops up with the quote of that person's post.
You can also see "reply" and "flag" above the time of the previous person's post. That's usually where my eye catches it and I have to be careful to hit the correct "reply"!

QNPoohBear Death in the Margins
UGH Amy is TSTL! She's supposed to be a smart librarian but she doesn't act like it in this book. I did not enjoy this one all that much even though the mystery was good. If there are more, I'm done and not going to hang out in Taylorsford any more.

Thanks for the warning.
TSTL characters, especially main characters, irritate me so much they commonly cause me to drop series. It's almost more annoying when previously smart well informed character suddenly becomes TSTL as plot device so they don't recognise clue/s.

That's Amy! The last book she got into trouble in a similar manner. She's supposed to be a librarian and therefore smart and sensible yet the last two books she behaved like she was TSTL. Her husband questioned something and she kept saying "I don't know!" to his questions and then she went and did it anyway.

Why would any author think readers enjoy reading about not very bright librarian? I read one where a damaged scrap of paper was found with body. Some letters were unreadable and librarian had no idea what message could be. I don't remember the title on paper scrap but it was something like
