Christine My name is Christine and I am an avid reader and reviewer. I prefer mysteries and thrillers but sometimes mix it up with romance. My all-time favorite authors are Agatha Christie and Sue Grafton, but new favorites are Ruth Ware, Fiona Barton, and Camilla Lackberg.

I have just recently been playing some of the Word and Book games in this group and have really been enjoying them.

message 454: by Talea (new)

Talea Hi, I'm Tee and fairly new to the whole cozy mysteries. I got started with the Teashop Mysteries by Laura Childs, previously I was pretty much only interested in Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes. I'm a homeschool mom in my 40's, separated, 4 kids, and just living and letting live.

Beverly Owens Hi, I'm Beverly Owens but my friends call me Bev. I live in Central Indiana and am the proud mother of two lovely daughters and two adorable granddaughters. I am an avid reader and enjoy many genres but my most favorite are Cozy Mysteries. I also write Cozies and currently have 2 different series.

When I am not reading or writing, I enjoy crocheting and cooking. I love cats and dogs but currently do not have any in my life. We lost our cat on Father's Day this year...waiting for a new one to find me.

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

message 456: by William (new)

William Cain I'm Bill and I live in New York City. I like to read, but i've been told i read slowly. To which I've replied I like to digest my books, not speed read, and remember the material. Some of my favorite authors are wilbur smith, c. s. forester, connelly and robb.
I'm currently reading 'the dry', which is turning out to be pretty good.

message 457: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Penn Hi, I'm Kathy. I read tons of mysteries but recently have been reading more cozy mysteries as I've been trying to write one! I like British mysteries best and have lately enjoyed H. Y. Hanna's Oxford Tearoom mysteries. I've also enjoyed Vicki Delaney's Sherlock Holmes Bookshop mysteries set in New England.

message 458: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Hi! I'm Stephanie and I live in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. I haven't taken advantage of the group feature on goodreads and I'd like to change that starting here :)

message 459: by YarnCircuits (new)

YarnCircuits Hi everyone! My name is Becca and I'm from New England. I love reading cozy mysteries, I like books with a mystery but I'm not really into particularly violent murder mysteries or horror. I'm looking forward to discovering new authors through this group and meeting more cozy mystery fans.

message 460: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Lush Hi! My name is Tamara and I'm just getting into cozy mysteries! Probably because I'm a romance author, I'm looking to read something outside the genre in which I write. Can't wait to get recommendations from all of you!

During the day I'm a reporter, and I've covered a lot of real-life crime stories! I live in Florida with my husband and our two dogs.

Tracy Hi, I’m Tracy from the Quad Cities in the Midwest. I’ve been binge reading cozy mysteries this past year and was excited to happen upon this group. Ruth 🙋Hi everyone,
I'm Ruth, an avid reader from Texas.
I joined Cozy Mystery after stumbling upon it a few days ago and just realized that I had yet to introduce myself. What is life without a good mystery? I love cozy mystery books some of my favorite authors are Elizabeth Peters, M.C. Beaton, Dorothy Cannell; classic mysteries-primarily English authors, especially Agatha Christie and Josephine Tey. I also read literary classics- mainly English, history, biography and fiction. My moment of luxury is sitting back in my corner with a cup of tea and a good mystery book, a favorite pastime. Bliss! 📖👀☕
Happy Reading!

Hi Tracey,
I'm Ruth, my favorite book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, also The Man in the Brown Suit by Agatha Christie. I just read Around the World in 80 Days by H.G. Wells, which was a fun adventure. Presently, I am reading Trojan Gold by Elizabeth Peters. What are you reading?

message 465: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell Ruth

Around the World in 80 Days is by that other father of science fiction, Jules Verne. I love both Verne and Wells.

Good heavens!
I did not realize my error, having been distracted at the time or I would not have made such a blunder. Thank you Gary for bringing this to my attention. Have a pleasant day.

Miss Anne of Kellynch Hello, my name is Anne, also from Texas. I enjoy cozy mystery books and I'm always in the look out for new books. Some of my favorite authors are Agatha Christie of course,
Lorna Barrett- (Booktown Mysteries),
Ann Cleeves (Vera Stanhope series) and Elizabeth Peters, just to name a few. Nancy Atherton and Alexander McCall Smith's No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series, are my favorite no murder mysteries. I read other book genres as well, but I always come back to cozies.

This just reminds me that Around the World in 80 Days is one of the Verne books I haven't read.

Dee Bright Hi! I'm new here and am looking forward to interacting with like-minded cozy readers! I've always enjoyed mysteries, but love the fun that is always found in cozies. I have many favorite authors, but the one who has most influenced my own characters is Anne George.

I'm a writer and am in that awkward spot between having just finished my first cozy manuscript and trying to figure out what to do next. But that's the fun! In the meantime, I'll keep burying my nose in the next good book!

I'm looking forward to meeting others of you here and sharing our favorite reads! I'm always looking for a fun new series, so please, share away!

Peter Kingsmill Hi folks - full disclosure I am an author, so will sign in as one separately.
However, I have started a Goodreads Group that I have named "Canadian Cozies" because I feel the Canadian landscape and culture lead to significantly different stories from the UK "model". (I guess we're a little less refined? Maybe it's the cold winters!!)

message 477: by Mara (new)

Mara Kincade Hi Peter. I'd be interested in your Canadian Cozy group as I am Canadian living in Saskatchewan.

Kathleen McKee Hi, everyone. I live in Pennsylvania with my Springer Spaniel puppy, Maggie. When I retired from my teaching career, I finally had time to make my dream of someday writing a novel a reality. I now have published 7 books and love being a reader and an author. My latest books are cozy mysteries. When I'm not engaging with feisty Maggie, I enjoy handcrafting, reading, and writing my next story. I look forward to getting to know other members of this group.

I love the outdoors and walk our land in the country with my corgimix, Lilly! Some favorite authors include Eryn Scott Mildred Abbott Kathleen Suzette Carolyn L. Dean Kathi Daley and many others. message 484: by Rita (new)

Rita Kano Hi,
I’m Rita from a small town in North Carolina, currently living in Utah. Like a few others in this group I cut my mystery teeth on Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. In later years, I became a fan of Agatha Christie novels; especially Miss Marple stories. I am now a great grandmother and Indie author. My main reason for writing is that I enjoy it and want to pass on a lifetime of memories to my family. My maternal grandmother died when I was only 6 years old. I’ve been told she was just the sweetest, kindest woman you’d ever meet. I remember watching her make a dress for me on a foot peddle sewing machine. The fabric was pink and blue, formerly a flour sack. Only time travel can answer all the questions I have now. Writing is my way of time traveling to honor my ancestors and discover which parts of them are me.

Hi Rita, I'm Carolyn. I grew up in a small town in Northern Wisconsin on Lake Superior. I also read a lot of Nancy Drew. As an adult, I began liking Ross Macdonald and still have all his books in my library.

Interesting idea about time travel. I never thought about it just that way.

I write cozies, forensics and mysteries with a female protagonist and try to infuse a little humor.
Carolyn

I Rita:
I'm Sandie.
Currently living in Southern Utah, after moving from California 14 years ago. Lives in California for maaaannnny years. Originally from the midwest. Grew up on Nancy Drew, Judy Bolton and Trixie Belden mysteries as well as Marquerite Henry's horse stories. I went through my "Jack Reacher" stage a couple of years back but am currently reading a lot of historical fiction featuring women protagonists and books that give the reader the "warm fuzzies" like William Kent Krueger's Ordinary Grace and Catherine Ryan Hyde's Stay and Have you seen Luis Velez. When I need a break and want a quick fix, I escape into cozies.

Have a son who lives in North Carolina (Greensboro, Kernersville area).
Sorry I'm so long winded. Hope I didn't put you to sleep with my "saga"

Alyssa Pedrick Hi all! I'm new to Goodreads, and an avid writer and reader. I'm a big fan of paperback books, charming small towns, baking and cooking, history, autumn aesthetic, and anything magical! I'm particularly fond of "cozy" stories with a heartwarming, light tone. Two of my favorite series are the "Hannah Swensen Mysteries" by Joan Fluke and "The Wishcraft Mysteries" by Heather Blake. Happy to be a part of this group!

message 490: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Everyone,
I just found this group and i'm so excited to join! I grew up reading anything, including cereal boxes if there wasn't a book handy. I discovered cozy mysteries a few years ago, and as an avid knitter my favorite series is the Black Sheep mysteries by Anne Canadeo, but i have read many other cozy mysteries along the way.

Laur Hello everyone. I'm Laur. Just became familiar recently with Cozy Mysteries and I love reading them! Naturally, I'm attracted to this group for that reason. Looking forward to seeing what you all read, and getting some good recommendations through your comments and reviews.

message 493: by TC (new)

TC Hello everyone! I am excited to join this group. I just got my first ever Kindle earlier this month and I'm in love with it. I've read cozy mysteries for years, I believe my first ones were probably "The Cat Who..." series. After that I just recognized them by the style of the cover long before I knew they had a special name. I am always looking for new authors to try, although I've recently discovered that I've forgotten old favorites enough to read them again (Yeah, I'm getting old!).

message 494: by Jeri (new)

Jeri Since you are a cat person you would really like the cat mystery books by Sofie Kelly and Sofie Ryan they are the same person. and if you like cats that really talk human try the Joe Grey series by Shirley R Murphy.

Hello, glad to join this group. I've been reading mysteries since I started with Nancy Drew and The Mystery at Lilac Inn when I was 8, read my first Agatha Christie (Cards on the Table) at 12, and am still enjoying cozy mysteries at 50. Current favorites include the Violet Carlyle series by Beth Byers and the Cruise Ship Cozy Mystery series by A.R. Winters.
