I HATE when authors claim a hero is “possessive”, but yet have him share her or something stupid like that!! Great review !
@Jamie C, ya some scenes just didn't make sense leading up to it. And having a content warning of "possessive behavior" but not sharing or exhibitionist behavior doesn't really make sense to me 😅
Dang it I was excited to read book one because I liked the reviews for that saying how the H was loyal to the h and how he was obsessively possessive of her but now he shares her?? Ya that makes complete sense 🙄 that whole "possessive Hs but are willing to share" authors have been using is really getting old and is so very contradictory (one of the reasons why I can't and won't read FBAA series until I know for sure there won't be a threesome lol). Thanks so much for the heads up!
@Audie, legit same! Even slight thoughts or comments about possiblly sharing turn me off. The hero was loyal here, and I did like him most of the time, but book 1 he had a staff watch them together which was super uncomfortable since I feel like he kind of forced the staff, and then bringing the best friend into here, which makes it worse because I wanted a Bishop book 😩
I don't know why but i love exhibitinosm kinks! I don't like sharing when the third part is a main caracter for another book but If this is not the case I am able to enjoy It. Sharing with om sometimes is sexy to me, but i think i prefer mf books strict to the couple and sharing in the mmf ones. However, lets try this. Good Review villain
@rebeka, maybe you'll like it then! And I don't necessarily mind exhibitionism but it's the sharing that I really don't like and this is a couple that will definitely be doing that in the future so it's not it for me. I like sharing in erotica or RH or menage but I'm not a fan of it in MF books. And thank you!
I actually loved that part. I wish the author had played up that 3-way tension more in the safe house, just for fun. Bishop deserved that and then some for putting up with those two. Bishop and Cole were the best things about this book, everything else was a badly paced yawn. I lost interest in Matthew and Layla by the middle of this book and wanted someone to stab her and toss her into the ocean. Such a stupid and unlikable heroine. Matthew wasn't much better, coming off as a pathetic wet noodle. Way too much of a contradiction between the Butcher and spineless retiree. Before this book, pussy whipped was just a metaphor. And it's even worse because it's for an annoying, TSTL heroine. I read Bishop first, and Layla's cameo there was much better.
I also found weird that she was so rabid about revenge for a guy she didn't even love. If the main motivation was to gain worth in her family's estimation, as she said, for her past "betrayal," then it seems like there were other and easier ways to do that. But even going with the assassination plot, why wouldn't showing leadership skills by organizing it be as good or better than needing to do it all alone?
