message 1: by Chloe (new)

Chloe This made me really want to pick this book up.

message 2: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin Ford Spot on review. I agree with every thing you said. Such a letdown.

message 3: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Hahaha. I actually did like this book, but I had some of the same issues as you.... But I thought the second book was much better. Sometimes all the hype around books make you expect more and you are left with...."That's it?" lol

message 4: by Gwen (new)

Gwen Moore I can't get through the first chapter.

message 5: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Molyneux Completely agree. I had to force myself to finish this

message 6: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay I just downloaded this from my library. :/ Thanks for your thoughtful review.

†Reviews of a FearStreetZombie† This has been a book I've been on the fence about for so long I have no idea if I should read it or not. There is something about it that keeps drawing me in, but something that at that same time is telling me "oh hell no"

message 8: by lauren ❀ (new)

lauren ❀ I really liked this book but I have to agree with the things you said. I didn't understand how she could suddenly love Khalid when he killed her best friend. Also she started loving him before she found out why he was killing his brides.

message 9: by Eliza (new)

Eliza I really didn't like this book either, and I thought I would too. Oh well. :/

message 10: by Jenny (new)

Jenny I had the same feelings as you regarding this book: thought I would love it but major disappointment. And I agree that the writing is forced.

message 11: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Oh, also... the sequel is more of the same. it doesn't get better. Everything is so conveniently solved that I wonder what was the conflict even?

message 12: by Anna (new)

Anna Finally someone who did not love it.

message 13: by Fahmida (new)

Fahmida Love the review. Totally agree on all points. I didn't have a problem with the foreign language, but then I am originally from Indian descent and married to an Arab! So that's the only reason I was familiar with it.
This book was a major letdown especially when going in with a preconceived notion that you will love it.

message 14: by Ashleyrae (new)

Ashleyrae yes! I felt the same way. I never finished it. I couldn't get into it and also found it forces.

message 15: by leynes (new)

leynes The bodyguard who never spoke

message 16: by jasmine (new)

jasmine I agree with what you say, but I really enjoyed this book because the writing works for me. I hope you will enjoyed the sequel more!

message 17: by Cindi (new)

Cindi I hated this book so much! I never got the hype!
The dude was horrible, it was boring and it was just ???

message 18: by Aliyah Grace (new)

Aliyah Grace This review should be at the top, it's so accurate bless

message 19: by Jo (new)

Jo Yes! Give me the Rajput's backstory! It's the only interesting thing!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

The flashing eye comment made me laugh out loud

message 21: by CJ (new)

CJ Hell yeah the Rajput!

message 22: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer You spoke my heart. I hate when characters fall in love (not sort-of like, not a smidge of lust but full-on-love) without anything of significance happening first. I don't understand when Khalid fell in love (was it while being read a bed time story by Shazi?) and I am waiting for Tariq's great love to be explained (he is willing to wage a war for her). Even Jalal and Despina's love is a no-go for me.

message 23: by Nay (new)

Nay I couldn't even finish it.

message 24: by Lili (new)

Lili Definitely agree. I couldn't even finish the book.

message 25: by Angelita (new)

Angelita Blanco YES, SO ACCURATE! It had so much potential to be a good book but it just completely disappointed me... 100% agree with everything

message 26: by Elska (new)

Elska Bee Tbh I'm glad someone else was bothered by everyone's eyes flashing every two seconds lol

message 27: by ali (new)

ali OMG ty the metaphors were so forced too, oftentimes. like, if you tried to follow the logic of some of the flowery language and metaphors, half of them didn't even make sense...

message 28: by Laurie (new)

Laurie Oh my gosh, I zoned out every single time and have no idea what I have been reading actually. Nearly finished so I will skim read and call it a day.

Sarah (is clearing her shelves) Read three pages, already side-eying the writing, this review has confirmed all my fears, returning it to the library without even logging it as 'currently reading'. Thanks for the great review, I'm sure you've saved me from many hours of annoyance.
