I’m N.P. Martin and I’m a lover of dark fantasy and horror. Writing stories about magick, the occult, monsters and kickass characters has always been my idea of a dream job, and these days, I get to live that dream. I have tried many things in my life (professional martial arts instructor, bouncer, plasterer, salesman…to name a few), but only the writing hat seems to fit. When I’m not writing, I’m spending time with my wife and daughters at our home in Northern Ireland.

Why No One Notices the Monsters: The Psychology of Urban Fantasy

One of the most persistent questions I get from readers of urban fantasy—and especially from those new to the genre—is a variation of the same logistical puzzle: How can all of this exist without everyone noticing? They point to the monsters. The magic. The sudden disappearances. The blood on the pavement that somehow vanishes by...

Quotes by N.P. Martin (?)

“clearly making a play for control of the shadow government,” he said. “He’s used their own tactic of the Hegelian Dialectic against them—create a problem, in this case the virus and a faulty vaccine; have the public react to it as they call for a solution; and then step in with a solution to the problem he created in the first place. The solution being the Blackstars and the new vaccine. Problem-Reaction-Solution. It’s classic manipulation.”

“Fear is just in your mind, and you can conquer it if you want to.” “How?” I asked him tearfully. “You chose not to be afraid.” I didn’t understand what he meant. How can you choose not to be afraid? Fear is fear, and it grips you whether or not you want it to. But I understood now that even if fear grips you hard, only you can give it power over you. All you had to do was choose.”

“the meantime, I had my own psychopath to catch whoever he was. Or she was. Not that I cared about this asshole’s gender. They could be a fucking hermaphrodite elephant with ten titties and three cocks. It didn’t matter.”
