Joshua Michail is the author of "To Make a Better World", on which he had worked for eight years before publishing in May of 2015. He has also spent nearly eight years, with some overlap with that book, writing his second book, "Mythos & Logos", which he plans to publish in the summer of 2016. His third book is also in progress, also planned for release in 2016, and will be his first fictional novel.

Though he was born in Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Michail was raised in Phoenix, AZ, where he still lives. He has two cats, Lucy and Sam. He is a minister, ordained by FCA, for the purpose of being able to perform secular services including funerals and weddings. He was Jewish for some years before becoming an atheist around 2003. What I do, mostly, is to quickly write down the ideas that come to me. Then, I work them out a little, flesh them out. Later, I come back and add, revise, edit and weave it together with other ideas. Otherwise, I find other things to do with my time.(less)

Happy New Year, to everyone! I hope this year will be prosperous and joyous for each of us. I also hope this year will see a great boost in the number of people around the globe who abandon religion, superstition, and pseudoscience to embrace science and logic.

William Shakespeare
“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”
William Shakespear, Hamlet

William Faulkner
“Because no battle is ever won he said. They are not even fought. The field only reveals to man his own folly and despair, and victory is an illusion of philosophers and fools.”
William Faulkner, The Sound and the Fury

C. JoyBell C.
“The difference between my darkness and your darkness is that I can look at my own badness in the face and accept its existence while you are busy covering your mirror with a white linen sheet. The difference between my sins and your sins is that when I sin I know I'm sinning while you have actually fallen prey to your own fabricated illusions. I am a siren, a mermaid; I know that I am beautiful while basking on the ocean's waves and I know that I can eat flesh and bones at the bottom of the sea. You are a white witch, a wizard; your spells are manipulations and your cauldron from hell yet you wrap yourself in white and wear a silver wig.”
C. JoyBell C.

Christopher Hitchens
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him will believeth in anything. - Hitchens 3:16”
Christopher Hitchens

Carl Sagan
“The Cosmos extends, for all practical purposes, forever. After a brief sedentary hiatus, we are resuming our ancient nomadic way of life. Our remote descendants, safely arrayed on many worlds throughout the Solar System and beyond, will be unified by their common heritage, by their regard for their home planet, and by the knowledge that, whatever other life may be, the only humans in all the Universe come from Earth. They will gaze up and strain to find the blue dot in their skies. They will love it no less for its obscurity and fragility. They will marvel at how vulnerable the repository of all our potential once was, how perilous our infancy, how humble our beginnings, how many rivers we had to cross before we found our way.”
Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space
