Wesley That something is "unethical, immoral and wrong" (3 words same meaning) doesn't mean it can't be a case of wits and courage.
Stealing takes courage. Why? Because getting caught will get you a lot of trouble. So there is risk. Courage meaning: "the ability to do something that frightens one"
He wasn't caught in almost 3 decades. Nobody could find him. That is a perfect example of wits. Wits, meaning: "the capacity for inventive thought and quick understanding; keen intelligence"
So, yeah. He lived of wits and courage.
