         It's curious how reminiscences stick in one's memory. A lot of my novel about the first half of the C20 comes from reminiscences about India and the two wars from my grandfather - and I have to confess, as a young girl at the time I wasn't paying that much attention. How I wish I had invested more time - at the time.
