Iaros Barbalata Ever since I've seen the movie, I never quite understood the motive for it all. It is still such an enigma to me.
It's the reason why I think that the book can shed some light on that.

Adrian Rose I have not actually read the novel but know enough about it to know that the reason the movie seems so much a mystery to you is because the producers left out the scientific and philosophical precepts that are in the book. I don't want to spoil the read for you, but I will say that the novel explains much that the movie does not.

Iaros Barbalata Thank you so much for that reply.
I was actually a bit reluctant to read the book because I read online some reviews saying that both the movie and book don't reveal anything concrete and that in the end you'll be forced to make your own assumptions.
I have nothing against that, but these kind of endings in books and movies usually create some uproar in the community about the lack of imagination and ideas on giving them both a good ending.
If there is an obvious ending that says "think for yourself".
I'd pass on it.
In my oppinion that kind of endings are just lazy writing.
It's like finishing the last jedi movie with a Luke vanishing act, then a screen fading to black...
It's just not acceptable.

Adrian Rose I agree that ambiguous endings can be a problem. On the other hand, sometimes life itself can be ambiguous so a book ending like that is just trying to be realistic. Read this one and then let us know what you thought. 😉
