Thank you Kumari. I also had cancer, melanoma and metastatic prostate cancer. I have had precancerous lesions in my stomach and bowel without any family history. I have wondered how much modern diets and chemicals have contributed and was disappointed that mainstream medicine does not address this adequately. Consider all of the estrogen, salt, antibiotics, artificial growth stimulants, and pesticides that are both natural and pumped into our food especially animal products. I have found Michael Greger MD at nutritionfacts.org very helpful. He is a preventative medicine specialist and he points to a huge body of research indicating that the above factors contribute. For example, in countries where people eat 100 grams of fiber per day(USA + 15 grams/day on average), colon cancer and heart disease are almost never seen. Consider Dr Greger's book How Not to Die. He has answered many of my questions. My prognosis had essentially been no survival after 10 years. At 18 years eating a organic whole food plant based vegan diet, no animal products, I am alive with no recurrence, feel well and still hike, surf, play singles tennis and bike at age 69. Big food, Pharma, and today's politics have interfered comprehensive research into our diet and environment's role in cancer, heart disease, and many other illnesses. Maybe I'm lucky but I'm skeptical. Good luck. Bob
thank you for replying. I have also suspected diet to be a much bigger part of Cancer than my previous doctors (GPs) believed. They were very dismissive of my idea. My oncologist, not so much. He believes me. I'm so glad you are still alive! I thought when I was younger, and going through menopause that eating soy, tofu, and omega-6 foods like flaxseed would help me. . . unfortunately, my Cancer is estrogen fed, oops! All those foods are stricken from my diet. But still, although my specific choices were wrong I still believe controlling diet to be part of key. Else why would there be pockets of places like Okinawa and Japan where breast Cancer is so so low and pockets of places like Kern county where breast Cancer is stunningly high?
