Cynthia Thank you so much for answering my question! It seems like both stand alone and series have their own pluses and minuses. I’m working on a trilogy with the same main characters throughout and I feel it makes the writing a tad easier, since you’ve come to know them and then can put them in situations and see how they react and evolve. I’ll have to try a series where it’s a different couple every book.

R.C. Matthews Yeah, I can see that. The challenge, though, is ensuring you have a complete story arc in each book. There has to be a GMC in every book that brings the characters closer to attaining the overriding GMC of the story. That's really tough to do. I bow to authors who have figured that out. The Harry Potter series is an excellent example of how to do it right. Each challenge Harry faces in each book brings him closer to the overall conflict with Voldemort, but we cheer him on through each victory. Ah... one of these days I'll think up an epic tale like that.

Cynthia Very true. Each character needs their own Goal, Motivation, and Conflict in order to make a change throughout the book.

I’m sure you’ll come up with a great epic tale, just like HP! Good luck in all your writing!
