Indeed block happens for a reason. Writer's block and other things blocking or simply won't succeed, may be due to lack of synchronicity, and you have to wait for "the right moment" when things flow together and you can follow the stream.
That's certainly true when it comes to creative writing. That said, when it comes to a client waiting on a deadline for work, I can usually write my way through it. The question is, would it have been better had I had more time and the luxury to respond to the block by leaving it for a while?
