That's so amazing! An yes I do im working on a YA contemporary that I started on NaNoWrimo! I would love seeing a day of a life of a self publishing author like what are the processes and steps to take
I'm very happy for you. You should be proud of yourself. It's wonderful. I would love to provide you with any information I can! You're very smart to seek this information and learn as much as you can about the approaches to publishing. It will only help you when you're ready. One other thing to think about too - which is just as important, maybe even more so when dealing with indie or self-pub authors - learn the aspects of what to do after publishing, for example marketing your work. I failed miserably in that arena, but I'm catching on and learning as I go along with the help of some really great people.
Ask as many questions as you'd like. Or, I can just detail how my process went, maybe highlighting key moments or sequences of events, things I'll do differently, things I will keep the same. Just let me know! :)
thank you so much. I am considering self publishing but wouldn't know where to start plus its always ben a dream of mine to get published by Harper Collins. But I would want to at least self publish one of my books in the near future. I guess my first question is after you were done editing what was your next step
When I was finished with final edits to my manuscript, I submitted it to AuthorHouse for publication. They are a self-publishing service company. They facilitated formatting the cover and interior designs along with digital coding for eBook distribution. Now, back-up just a little bit. Before I was finished writing, I contacted them, simply for information. I knew nothing. All I knew was I had a story to tell and beyond that I was clueless. They provided me with some information and asked to read a portion of my manuscript. I sent them the prologue. After a few weeks passed, they told me they really liked it and the writing style. I was over the moon. It wasn't any earth shattering news, but to me - it meant the world. WOW. People who deal with writers and books everyday, liked my work! I didn't really think or investigate any other options other than that. I'm not a pro, JaNae, but I know there are many avenues you can take to fulfilling your dream. I know you will. You seem like a very determined young lady. Thus, the condensed version of my advice/answer to this question is: Write. Edit. Edit. Edit. Get your manuscript as good as you can. Explore your options. I think having a grasp on the parameters of your book - chapters, page count, number of words, stand-alone or part of a series, knowing these things can help when searching for what course of action is best for you as a self publishing author.
thank you so much miss Monroe it truly means a lot to me to get help and advice for an actual author!
