Matti Paasio Thanks, Dave! But is this the case when a psychopath has a plan that culminates in suicide, as - if I"m not mistaken - the leader of the Columbine Two did. (As you see, I'm trying to avoid mentioning him by name. )

Dave Cullen The plan was not to culminate in suicide. He expected to die by a cop, and he saw/described that as a necessary side effect. He said on the Basement Tapes that he was willing to make that sacrifice.

BTW, most sadistic psychopaths who choose the murder path go the serial killer route. And being rational and intelligent, they must also know it will likely end in their death (or worse, imprisonment). They choose to do it anyway. So Eric was no different than his predecessor's in this regard.

Again, I think the essential problem is the word "suicide," and our preconceptions about it. Those impressions that go with suicide were not at all what Eric was up to.
