agreed. the ending ruined it enough for me to almost not like the book at all
The dad gave up after repeatedly killing for something that was wrong and having his son hate him for it and knowing that men would never stop coming and the kids were already gone. And the ending was great.
And Whites interest in the boy is simply in turning him into a weapon who will be loyal only to him.
