Thank you for your response David. Don't lose hope. As they say, sometimes you don't know the value of what you have until it's gone, and this weekend saw encouraging signs of life from our democratic republic. There is still much to be thankful for and to fight for, and I've found it helpful to read about what life was like under true fascist regimes, to understand the contrast from our current environment (See, "Christ Stopped at Eboli" by Carlo Levi). Chin up! :)
