I’m glad it wasn’t just me who felt that was odd.
It was more than odd, it was a fatal flaw in this debut novel that I blame on careless or incompetent editing. Don't even see how it could have been missed.
I took it like there were more secrets hidden there that they didn’t find before the fire.
If the house had still more hidden secrets, that makes the ending even worse! It's been the focal point & Thai kept dropping hints about it the whole story, so it's not ok to just burn it down at the end with no explanation.
