Someone has gotten the electricity going. That's what Clark shows Kirsten from the air traffic control tower.
Should've been more specific in that I was referring to at the airport hangar. With an established settlement there, I'd find it hard to believe that someone wouldn't have had the capacity to get the electricity going.

I wonder if people years from now will wonder that same thing about our inability to develop clean energy. Maybe that absence is a comment on human nature?
I don't think it's surprising that the survivors at the airport didn't find a way to generate electricity. They couldn't even manage to find their way outside the airport in two decades and continued to live under sheets on the concourse. The only conclusion I could come to by the end of this book was that there was a direct correlation between immunity and IQ.
