I agree! I love Steinbeck's novels, but I will admit that this autobiographical journey is my most treasured book.

Have you ever read Blue Highways by William Least Heat-Moon? It's a travel tale in the same manner as Charlie, tinged with some insightful, funny and touching Native American insights. I think you'll like it.

Nothing like a book... a book in the hand is worth a dozen on the shelf!
Blue Highways is an older book (1990's I think) so you may have to go to Amazon, but it should be available. It is listed on my book shelf so you can get the # for it there.
Watch out for those paper cuts!
