Well that's a big part of high modernist literature. The subjective quality of narration lends itself to the hazy world exemplified in characters such as Vardaman. It's not supposed to be concrete by any means.
Faulkner's works benefit immensely from re-reading, and I think you'll want to. How far are you into it? I do feel like the narrative becomes less hazy and frantic after the climax, for what its worth. I hope you enjoy it!
