Emma ? So what what?

message 3: by CynthiaQ (new)

CynthiaQ I completely agree. Especially in Goblet of Fire.

message 4: by Gus (new)

Gus You are absolutely right, Gambon did way too much yelling for my taste

message 5: by Monkique (new)

Monkique I totally agree!! I don't like Michael Gambon as Dubledore at all! Dumbledore supposed to be strong and powerful but also kind and with good sense of humor and I never saw this in Gambon's Dumbledore.

message 6: by Leah (new)

Leah He was really good! It was the director's fault. Gambon didn't say, "oh, even though the director said to be nice and friendly, I'm going to be a crotchety old man!" The director made him act crotchety. Understand?

message 7: by Monkique (new)

Monkique still I dont like him as Dumbledore!

message 8: by Leah (new)

Leah I'm not denying your dislike, I'm denying your reason.

message 9: by Monkique (new)

Monkique well... it's my personal opinion...so....

Leah I'm proving your opinion wrong.

message 11: by Monkique (new)

Monkique but guess what? I don't care ;)

Leah That's great

message 13: by Rita (new)

Rita Sijelmass I don't agree Leah, you can't pin everything on the director; at the end, the actor makes the character (and that is why they are cast, if the director could paint every blank canvas as he saw fit then anyone could play that role that is white, male and over 50). Perhaps there is some blame in the person who did the casting (I mean Rita Skeeter, honestly? Alan Rickman is made for his role though), yet the actor isn't completely innocent. To me, Michael Gambron was so out there with his yelling and stressing, that he lacked the power and control that Dumbledore should have in his calmness. Dumbledore shouldn't have to try so hard to make his presence clear, he has an overall ambiance of authority already by simply being there. That is what the original Dumbelore brought to the films so eloquently.

However, this is just my opinion. If you're content with either one, no harm done :)

message 14: by Maggie (new)

Maggie I agree, the old Dumbledore was so much better!

message 15: by Fiona (new)

Fiona Magyar The first dumbledore was perfect, and It's really sad that he died. The new dumbledore wasn't as like warm and homey feeling, wasn't as wise, or magical.

message 16: by Sharifa (new)

Sharifa Gordon couldn't agree more! Grave lost to the character like only he could and did bring with such STYLE and finesse!
