Cait Gordon is an autistic, disabled, and queer Canadian writer of works that celebrate diverse bodyminds. Originally from Verdun, Québec, Cait worked for over two decades as a technical writer before channelling her love of words into storytelling.

She authored the award-winning, disability-hopepunk adventure, Season One: Iris and the Crew Tear Through Space! Her short stories featuring disabled and/or neurodivergent heroes have appeared in several anthologies and in her award-nominated collection, Speculative Shorts: Stories that fell out of my brain. A blue sky in the background. In the foreground is a skeleton featuring ribs. Growing through the bones are pretty white flowers on lush stems.

As someone who manages mental illness and is disabled and autistic, I just had to speak up about it at a Romance conference I attended years ago. Broken is also one of those words that has been weaponized against us disable

I loved Earthbound, and Skysworn made me feel so many things! I even shouted them out loud while reading, which started my husband. Oops. But it’s such a great and wild ride and such a satisfying conclusion to this duology. Such a fan of this author!

“Advice? I don’t have advice. Stop aspiring and start writing. If you’re writing, you’re a writer. Write like you’re a goddamn death row inmate and the governor is out of the country and there’s no chance for a pardon. Write like you’re clinging to the edge of a cliff, white knuckles, on your last breath, and you’ve got just one last thing to say, like you’re a bird flying over us and you can see everything, and please, for God’s sake, tell us something that will save us from ourselves. Take a deep breath and tell us your deepest, darkest secret, so we can wipe our brow and know that we’re not alone. Write like you have a message from the king. Or don’t. Who knows, maybe you’re one of the lucky ones who doesn’t have to.”
