"Bonus: Check out author Chen’s “real bio” on her website."
Am I missing something? The link is just...a normal author bio. Like, here's what she's written and things she won and where she lives. What do this line mean by "real bio" and as opposed to what?

Matisse at War, by Christopher C. Gorham (author of The Confidante, a Goodreads Choice Award nominee)
Is EVERYONE heterosexual?
Who picked this list?
The Muskrat from tesla?
Or the other oligarch from Amazon whose soul died in darkness?
8 categories of fiction and yet only one for books about things that exist(ed) and even that is heavily skewed towards biographies of Americans and American phenomena.
I'm sure the books are each excellent and I hold no ill will towards Americans; but the world is so much bigger and you'd be hard pressed to know that from the selection here.

Here's a few tricks with that which work for me.
I do Browse on the top menu > New Releases, and it will show by month by authors I've read or click the tab on Genres.
Also, exploring the favorite genres page, includes some top new releases by Genre and Sub-genre.
As example with this one for Horror, shows the new releases and current popular giveaways - https://www.goodreads.com/genres/horror

Yes, but this selection specifically states in the Description there are for U.S. New Releases.
"This is the time when the Goodreads editorial team pivots to track all incoming books slated for publication in the new year (in the U.S.). We crunch the numbers on the books that are showing up most often on members’ Want to Read shelves. That data informs our curated list of the Most Anticipated new releases."
So excited for Rebel Witch! Whoever wrote this part of the synopsis shading Cressida has my respect: "Rune must ally with a zealous and dangerous rhymes-with-witch who wants to assume the ultimate power."
I'm really disappointed that the scifi list is more literary social commentary. There are some really interesting science fiction books coming out, but the workers at Goodreads obviously don't like any science fiction. Instead they prefer literary with a science fiction back drop. So, if you are looking for scifi, don't look for recommendations here.
I'm waiting the English edition of a French memoir written by a Black author. It's a mix of The Devil Wears Prada/Emily in Paris and The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl. Look out for Suite Side Stories :).
Avi wrote: "I have nothing against fiction, but perhaps consider that maybe 8 categories for fiction and just 1 for non-fiction is a bit unbalanced? Thanks."
Agreed!

Agreed!"
I agree too -- I wish for a separate memoir catagory
No business? Life? Actual, real, human relationships? Skills, growth, money, understanding the world and the other a bit better? Too much fiction and way too many novels for my taste, coming from someone who only read novels, not long ago.

I agree.
Im sorry but Brandon Sanderson Book Wind and Truth isnt on here. So clearly this list is not complete.
I'm looking forward to All Better Now by Neal Schusterman. I love his books and can't wait for this one on Feb. 4!

That came out in December of 2024.
Thanks for the fine selection of American Non fiction books - other continents do exist y'know......

great idea!
There aint no way "Four Ruined Realms" by Mai Corland and
"Wings of Starlight" by Allison Saft isn't on this list.

More people read fiction than non-fiction, because non-fiction is the purview of books for middle managers.
I wish Goodreads still had Children's Picture Books as a category. I would like to recommend this title for your 2025 most anticipated reading. Suka's Farm by Ginger and Frances Park.

Love your compiling this article...but I would love a PDF list of the book titles and authors. Then I can quickly look to see if I should purchase the book, Kindle, or audio form. Thanks.
I wish you would not classify Contemporary Romance (Contemporary Crap to me) as Romance. It's not. It's just thirty somethings that whine about why they can't find true love on their terms. I've only read one of the authors and am not adding any of these books to my reading list and I read over 200 books last year.
Goodreads must be getting a lot of money from the kickbacks they get for shilling for this load of manure.
I agree with Avi, more non-fiction categories please! Though I must admit this ratio does line up with my local library - it’s 90% fiction 😢

You really shouldn't read a novel based upon the author's gender. It's superficial and takes away from the enjoyment. If you like a book, read it... it doesn't matter if the author is a man or woman.
