should I re-read books I decided to loathe 5-6 years ago and see if I'm still salty about them??

yeah I'm a bit of a glutton for punishment when it comes to reading problematic books for the sole purpose of shredding them in a review bwhahaha

xander ツ depends, did you hate them for small or “petty” reasons (no reasons are too petty in hating books) or did you hate them because they were problematic trash books? being salty in a review is fun but At What Cost To Your Sanity LMAO

oh my sanity has long been destroyed BUT some of these books are ones I'm not sure of my opinion on them, and I'm curious to see if I'll hate them same/more . . . or see them in a new/better light ahaha

most of them were content reasons, I think, but then again a lot of my personality and opinions have changed over the timespan since reading them which is my main reason for going back and seeing if my mind is still the same when it comes to certain books lol

Federico DN Or read some books that you loved to see if you still love them?

you raise a good suggestion!! but I'd rather go back and double-check the few books I've hated vs all the other books I'm pretty sure I still love xD

Federico DN It's your gamble :p

yeah but I'd much rather discover that I love a book I thought I hated vs discovering I hate a book that I previously loved hahaha

I haven't gone past the first book in that series and I've seen either hate or love regarding them, so I'm kinda scared to see what my thoughts will be hahaha

yeah those books/series are always kinda scary for me hahaha

faiith I think it depends on how you felt about it the first go around. Like there are some series that I didn’t like the first time around but it was more like an “eh, it wasn’t that good,” but then there are others where it’s like “I would sell my soul to the highest bidder that promised to remove these books from the memory of this planet.” ...I recommend staying cautious when it comes to the latter.

yeah but I mostly want to go back and re-read stuff with fresh eyes because I've changed a lot as far as how I view stuff and a few books I've re-read I've been like "wow this wasn't as terrible as 14yo me thought" hahaha

but yes thank you for the warning and there ARE a few books that I know without a doubt that I will forever loathe them

Maria✨ Would you really like to waste so much time just for the chance of feeling a bit more positive about them when you can instead find new books you can actually enjoy? Brr, it sounds like a punishment!

eh it's more along the lines of curiosity, writing a better review, checking to see if my opinions have changed over the years (I'm mostly talking about a few books I read 2014 and earlier) . . . and well I am a bit of a sucker for self-punishment in my fiction bwhahaha xD

also unfortunately with the new books I read too, they've lately been on the moderate side of things vs true enjoyment. I find enjoyment in reading, so I keep doing that no matter how good or bad the books I pick up are ^^

You know that's spot on. That may be the reason why I have never, ever, reread a book. Well that and sacrificing the opportunity to discover a new loved one.

You kn..."

I really only re-read books I absolutely adore, or to get a secondary opinion on a book if I'm still unsure about it.
