Wait . . . Zagava is doing paperbacks now? Well, crud, there goes all my money. ALL of it . . .

Though I will still buy the occasional limited edition work. Some of those are so exquisite you don't want to pass them by!

Robert Adam Gilmour Looks like I will be able to afford the upcoming softcover of Feathered Bough.

Taryn Allan I must say I was delighted to hear this news. The only time I've been able to pick up a Zagava book previously was when I bought the hardback edition of Avalon Brantley's 'House of Silence'.

And THAT will be the first softcover I buy from them. I bought Stephen Clark's The Feathered Bough in hardcover and am delighted with it (still have to read it, though)!

Taryn Allan Whereas I shall likely buy the softcover of 'The Feathered Bough'. I thought I had to bag a hardback copy of 'House of Silence' while they were still available, and I was not disappointed (and Zagava are very generous with the 'gifts' they include with your order, which was for me a copy of Quentin S Crisp's 'The Little One - A Meditation'). Easily one of the best books I read last year, tempered only by the heart-breaking knowledge that Avalon Brantley didn't live to see it published.

That really is heart-breaking! And, yes, Jonas is very generous with extras. I received the first issue of Infra-Noir with my order . . . with the welcome sight of my own name on the advertisement for the next issue's Table of Contents! :)

Taryn Allan I imagine it doesn't get much better than that. I can well remember the thrill of seeing my own name on a TOC for the first time. :)

Me, too. That was a looooong time ago! But it's been a while since I've had fiction published because I've been concentrating so much on writing for RPGs. I've got three forthcoming stories from different venues (InfraNoir, Synth, and Vastarien), which feels great. I still have a few RPG projects to work through before I can really plow into the fiction like I used to, but soon, soon . . .

Taryn Allan Yeah, I saw the preview for the next issue of Vastarien had your name listed in the TOC. I submitted for an earlier issue, but they couldn't quite fit it into the magazine; and they did also send me the nicest, most encouraging, rejection letter I've ever received. ;)

I'm usually just happy when someone actually sends a rejection letter. Nothing like letting someone hang for months or years not knowing if they should/can submit their story elsewhere! :(

Taryn Allan I quite agree. It's not so bad if they're open to your submitting the piece elsewhere at the same time, but it's really not on when they insist on an exclusive submission, yet fail to extend the curtesy of a personalised rejection letter.

S̶e̶a̶n̶ This is good news indeed, despite the fact that I finally threw all caution to the wind and ordered a copy of The Feathered Bough in hardcover. Somehow I doubt I will regret that, though.

Chances are pretty much zero that you will be disappointed! :)
