Ian DeVaney I read this book for an internship. There is some good advice in it, but otherwise, I remember thinking that it might be better titled 'How To Manipulate People to Get What You Want'. lol
That does appear to be the goal of the majority of Carnegie's actions.

Isaac Yea, I see what you mean. It is especially for salespeople. But he does preface tips as needing to be sincere and not manipulative. Things should be done with win/wins in mind and not just getting strictly what one side wants.
The crazy thing to me is that most of the advice is super simple and "DUH" things and yet hardly anyone actually does them. Grain of salt though!
Thanks for the heads up

Ian DeVaney Yeah, definitely. I mean, there are definitely some good pieces of advice that you can apply in ministry or in any setting. Simple things like making a point to remember people's names. Most people don't put in the effort though.

Isaac Isn't that crazy?! I haven't reached the second half which is the part I'm sure you are referring to that is more manipulative. The beginning is so good though with simple things that can create a solid first impression with people. It has an attitude of pleasing the world in social relations though which can get you into trouble sometimes I'm sure!
It'd be fun to talk about the book once I'm finished!
