Since it seems as likely as not that in a week DONALD FUCKING TRUMP is going to be declared commander-in-chief of the most powerful army humanity has ever known, I ask the good people of the world, what are you stocking your bomb shelters with? Also, half of America? Fuck you. I'm not one of you and I don't like you - stay away from me and my family you scary idiots.

You might even say that the tradition of all dead generations weights like a nightmare on the brains of the living.

Griffin Alexander There is no need for things to exist as they do, for this country to drag itself forward out of historical momentum chased by ghosts it chooses not to reckon with. We are starved in this house of mirrors while we hold the hammers to break them.

Nah, it's real. SF mandatory shelter-in-place order. "Martial law" slight exaggeration, but still:

message 4518: by Cody (new)

Cody SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Bay Area residents across six Bay Area counties have been ordered to “shelter in place” until early April, according to an announcement from county officials Monday.

The order applies to all residents in the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Santa Clara, San Mateo, and San Francisco. The six counties are home to more than 6.7 million people. Napa, Solano and Sonoma were not immediately included in the order.

The order goes into effect beginning at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, directing people to stay home and keep away from others as much as possible over the next three weeks, .

Thanks, brother.

Everyone be well.

Milagro: just be civil. You came here to pick a fight, they didn’t look for you. This is a precipice unlike we know, especially us in major urban areas.
Regardless of this virus or whatever the cause, we will all be gone to soon to waste our precious cells with plain meanness. That goes every bit as much for myself as it does for Milagro and all here.

Be kind

Jonathan We are under quarantine here after my 8 year old developed a cough, but his school is closed and my work has introduced mandatory work from home anyway. Rather amusingly our very Christian Texan boss is introducing a Friday afternoon video call where we have to volunteer to read our favorite poems or pieces of prose to the rest of the office, because he wants us to feel like a community. And he is going to say a prayer each time too. I am seriously tempted to pull some job-destroying shit and volunteer to read something entirely inappropriate, but guess I probably should just choose something soppy and greeting-cardy.
Weather is nice here in London. Just made a big batch of chicken soup. Ikea just delivered a huge new bookcase I am going to put up in our entrance hall and spend the next few days arranging. Have enough books to read to last until the winter. Enjoying getting lots of unexpected time with my wife and child. Could be much much worse, and is for millions of others, so have nothing really to complain about.
Good luck and best wishes to you all xx

I’m in a different room from family, wracked-up on steroids and antibiotics, inhaler and nebulizer. No way of knowing for sure, so think the dr just threw everything at me. Ach.
Guess I’ll complete Federman sooner than intended, I hope.

Love you, JoMo. Blessings to the family from mine. You know how to reach me.

(And Jonathan for finding something suitable to recite.)

You guys will have said this pages ago (I've not looked back to check), but the absolute ridiculousness of the candidate who wants to change the extortionate US medical system not being the front runner during a pandemic. Instead a guy who more or less thinks the politics of 5+ years ago are still what's needed. If was American wld still vote for Biden but it's disappointing and absurd to put it mildly.
