Since it seems as likely as not that in a week DONALD FUCKING TRUMP is going to be declared commander-in-chief of the most powerful army humanity has ever known, I ask the good people of the world, what are you stocking your bomb shelters with? Also, half of America? Fuck you. I'm not one of you and I don't like you - stay away from me and my family you scary idiots.

Nooooooooo. Don't even mention that! How dare you!

(TATTOOED ON BRAIN: August, 1991--sitting in living room after swimming with older, cool, metalhead cousin and friend. New Metallica video set to premiere at 3pm. All eyes trained on TV. A hush falls over the small gathering. On comes the video; not a word is spoken for 4 mins. Video ends. All three look at each other and simultaneously explode, "What the fuck was that piece of shit?!? Holy God, they suck!!! NO!!!")

Thus ended my affiliation with a group I adored as a youngster. Never again.

Of course not. I just had so much emotional investment in them when I was young. And I mean YOUNG. Kirk Hammett was like a god to me. He was the reason I started playing at age 9. They were the reason I started reading HP Lovecraft in elementary school. Wore black jeans with white high-tops! Shit, I saw them twice on just the previous ...AJFA tour alone. Even G D Re-revisited was fantastic. More Diamond Head? Yes, please! Then they turned their backs on me and they deserve whatever personalized hell the devil has designed for them.

Fuck you, Bob "Soft" Rock

Own the album, never bought into it. That was, in fact, the last album I bought by them. Give me In A Priest Driven Ambulance, Hit To Death in the Future Head, Transmissions..., Clouds Taste Metallic, and TSB and I'm good. They had a run, undoubtedly, but devolved into a traveling circus of fucking teddy bears and Miley Cyrus. Coyne's actually become what he used to rail against.
But when they had Ronald in the band and Drozd was still behind the kit, fuck...They were a mighty impressive sonic attack live. Both of those guys are weirdo-virtuosic instrumentalists. All the shit you hear on the two Ronald albums you think are keyboards are actually him on guitar. Quite possibly the most untraditional approach I've ever seen anyone take to playing (in a good, not novelty, way) the old 6-strang.

He'd likely be able to settle this controversy of Flaming Lips discography.

I think at this point we can remove the "untimely" designation. It's hardly likely that he'd be blowing out those almost-200 candles today if pleurisy hadn't snuck up on him.

I'm just glad that we're finally getting to the really important heart of the matter.

As for numbers: I think Geoff is going to do that as well as transcribe and bind this entire thread while he rots in a prison cell on conviction for sedition.

David M And here's this rather arresting music review he wrote not long before going to Syria.

http://www.wweek.com/music/2015/12/15...

'A child dies in the ruins in Syria and no one is alive to cry for them because they're all gone. On the other side of the planet, a teenager peruses Tumblr, sighing. He or she is filled with that peculiar brand of American ennui and searches for something to fill that terrible void. The teen is 24. '

That wasn't a music review, it was a tractus of his agenda. Had fuckall to do with music. 2-3 sentences total about music? That was op/ed with him playing judge. Fine writing, sure, but I feel bad for Coleen Green. He really kind of rendered her as a one-dimensional millennial stereotype, and used the opportunity to promote himself more than anything.

But you know what they say in regards to writing about music...

Your point is more than valid. I just felt he exploited the opportunity afforded him at her expense. The writing is good; I just feel bad that she was used as a stepping stone to his end. The piece really is about him.

I'd be pissed if I were her, that's for sure. But hey, PissPig gotta do PissPig. You millennials disgust me ;)
