I cannot believe some authors have the nerve to bash reviewers ON TWITTER over a pre-review. Are kidding me? Are you fucking kidding me?! Unprofessional and I will not be reading his works or any of his friend's that decided to jump in.

rameau I don't even like Kira's reviews, these days, but I thought she handled the situation with grace. And I'm not ready to blacklist these authors completely, I'll still let the writing do the talking, but I definitely won't be supporting them financially. That's what libraries are for.

Libraries are a good solution.

Ava So Hawkins is on this Goodreads bashing as well? Ha. Removing her from my following list, sorry, Ms. Hawkins. You don't deserve it.

What was the review that Kira wrote?

REBECCA BLACK handles criticism better than these authors do. She smiles and keeps on truckin', and she's a thirteen-year-old middle-schooler who received death threats. Volumes are being spoken.

Rosa this is kind of depressing... I understand that authors want people to like their books, but we're allowed to have an opinion! Should I be scared next time I write a negative review? Gah, this sucks!

Well said! I shall do just that :) but seriously, when are they going to learn?!?

THIS.

Mir Sometimes contracts actually do have a clause about behavior. Or at least they used to... maybe that's a thing of the past.

Lynne weir I think the authors were a bit immature in their response. Instead of taking it on the chin and dealing with it they went and put it on twitter. That’s something you'd expect some high school teenager to do, when she or he can’t face telling whatever it is to their friends face. I know criticism is hard to take but to be honest I'd prefer it to having nothing at all. I love writing and I'd think it a major honour is someone published my work and it would be even better if people read it, even if they didn’t like it. If they took the time to type a review on it at least you can pat yourself on the back for getting a strong enough emotion from the reader for them to write a review even if it was negative. I myself write stories on good reads and I don’t like it when people I know or other readers criticism it but I still take what they said in account and use it. How can we improve if there are only reviewers who comment us? We need criticism no matter how hard in order to learn and improve. There have been many books I've disliked and been negative about but I will still give the author another chance to prove to me that she can improve and as long as the author improves no matter how slowly, I’ll still give their books a try. And here’s another thought. What if it has nothing to do with how good or bad the author is but that simply that one or two reviewers just didn’t like it and that other than them there are many that did? It simply shows that you can’t please everyone with your work so you shouldn’t try or get upset if you read a bad review. I remember an author mentioning this on their blog; I wish I could just remember who it was.
