It's good, but we're 100 pages in and it's still hinting around the thesis. Everybody talks about this book as a dialogue with Superman theories, but you still don't really have that.

A couple dialogues are interesting by showing Czarist Russia to you in all its grimness. Oh! And the officer / student dialogue about justice. The pragmatist discussing justice with the utilitarian.

Mildly disappointed at the lack of whales.

Im fully convinced that people who don't like this book just dont like literary fiction as a genre. Melville is attempting to fully portray Ahab through the the crew through the boat, through The Whale. Every detailed description of a run down hotel or whale taxonomy is to help you understand Ahab more fully. The book is not about a whaling voyage or even Ishmael at all but a man and his singular rage.
