Too much TSTL and stupidity now.

Ugh! Another blah blah blah Caasey is having a saviour complex mega monologue story combined with TSTL idiocy. As much as I really like this author, sometimes she just keeps going on and on and on and it's just really tiresome.

FMC has decided to go full on TSTL. Maybe she'll decide to put us all out of our misery and die because the idiocy at 50% is ridiculously stupid. As much as I usually enjoy the audiobooks, the idiotic inner monologue is exceptionally annoying and tiresome.

Great start, then around the halfway mark it starts meandering. Blah, blah, blah.

"If she was ever to work for Chris permanently, she would have to do something about the way he dressed, but that was a bridge that could be crossed in good time." WTF?! It's garbage like that which made me quit reading this the first time. I might just have to DNF this drivel.

This author is extremely unreliable as a narrator. She read a NYT article re Zika (published Mar '16) but apparently went through 'months' of Zika terror by the time she gave birth to her healthy daughter a week later in Mar '16. Her narration of WEF in Myanmar was similarly confused with her newly pregnant but the meeting was in 2013 while the description suggested 2012.

Whine, slime and a bunch of immature fan-girling. Not sure what the point of this book is other than a bunch of snot-nosed teenage mentality children (supposedly adults) bumbling around in a caricature of running a business.

It's very frustrating when a NF book is so full of hyperbolic speculation that it's essentially a work of fiction. The concept of this book is very intriguing especially given that so much of history and stories have been written and told by men. But it's also important to remain critical of an author's biases when they present something as fact.

"The new justice," he intoned dryly, "is noted for two things. First, it was evident looking at her career that she couldn't keep a job. Second, she had made it through the court system faster than most cases."

Ugh, this is soooo boring. Paused at ch 26. No use in my having a library copy when I don't even want to look at this.

Saffron Everleigh has been reduced to a brainless ninny who can only think with what's between her thighs! She has difficulty concentrating on a serious situation after two scientists have been killed and can only think of how she wants to trace her finger over boyfriend and the sight of a fungal sample growing in a Petri dish nauseates her. This has devolved into a farcical romance rather than a cozy mystery.

Ridiculously stereotypical re misogyny and sexist attitudes of the time. Very boring and stilted writing in a tell manner; very little show. Dialogue of MCs likewise very stereotypical for the pseudo-brilliant scientist.

I don't get it. FMC discovers a body by the dumpster in the back alley behind her business, so her business automatically becomes a crime scene? Why are the police traipsing through her bar in the first place rather than going directly to the body through the alleyway? Why is she, her staff and her business suspect rather than the bookstore next door? This isn't making sense.

OMFG What the f@!k is going on at this point?! This book is such a ridiculous disappointment. It started out well enough, but the ridiculous pointless meandering of this story makes for a stupid, frustrating read / listen. The author keeps forcing idiocy and taking stupid paths on the readers rather than doing something that actually makes sense or is logical. Soooo effing wanting to DNF.

I forgot that I'm not fond of the narrator of the audiobooks for this series; odd and annoying cadence to the sentences. As much as I want to read this right away, I think I'll pass on the audiobook and wait for the ebook to become available at my library instead.

This needs serious editing. There are a lot of grammar mistakes and incorrect use of commas. More importantly, am I reading the stories of three different Edgars? There's some weird overlapping happening, and it would explain the strange backtracking happening in the storyline.

Definitely a much slower, and more sedate book compared to her first. So far, it's been interesting to read but takes more effort on the reader's side to remained engaged.

Yikes! FMC has turned into a little selfish, self-centered princess who's too stupid to live. While the story started out interesting enough, it's turned into an erotica with little plot or character development. The male characters are... completely forgettable; they are interchangeable and have no individuality.

The excerpt for this had me intrigued, but the actual story so far is definitely not delivering.
