"...we need to suffer to remain human." I hope the author disscuses this more on the otherside of things because while I can agree that suffering can be used for good, I think it is dangerous to imply it has any part of the goodness that we are meant to be. We were human in Eden without suffering, yes? We will be human after there is no more death or suffering (Revelations 21:3-4) and yet we will still be human.

I didn't used to read acknowledgements before, but now they're one of my favorite pieces of books. They show the author's heart, their hard work, their tribe, their love, and their dedication. Absolutely beautiful.
