This is filling a Yellowjackets sized hole in my heart.

I can't remember the last time I felt fear for the fates of characters. I'm worried for them.

One of the most terrifying openings to any book I've read in recent memory.

Beginning this at 10 PM sitting in a near-dark part of my house upstairs lit only by a lamp I kept looking over at the stairs opposite me whenever any sound came from below. Something about demons activates primal fear in me, as if they exist outside religion, like an inherent evil appropriated under false pretense they can be tamed.

Found footage horror is my jam, and "The Pine Arch Collection" is huckleberry.

"Vampire Fiction" is thematically one of my favorite contemporary short stories now. What an opener!
