A bit of a slog, but reading through history of ideas, especially the periods of early Christianity until the Enlightenment, that's to be expected.

I love this book! A must have for quick reference, a coffee table book, or just to read through cover-to-cover, as I am doing, for remedial / refresher purposes.

A fun book to read a tale from occasionally during a pandemic.

Like other reviewers have noticed, the second volume of this collection is a bit of a slog. It is still a masterpiece, in my opinion, but as should be expected with as massive work, spanning a decade of production, it is uneven in its form.

Just finished the first volume! And despite the density of this text, so far it is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

With the exception of a few narrative threads that are hard to follow, because I have not read The Speculations of Jakob, this is a surprisingly accessible text - one that so far has lived up to the critical fanfare upon its release in the English-speaking world.
