Previous issue is the constant whine of the audiobook narrator. It’s grating on my eardrums.

These characters are trashy individuals: partying and getting a babysitter so they can get drunk in their own home is the barest minimum ‘good parenting’ they can get. Without a babysitter, they’d be getting a call from CPS.
