Rushdie’s an outrageous writer; spinning narratives together like a thousand plates slowly reaching towards one another until they are miraculously neatly stacked together, somehow inside an ornate glass cabinet teetered on the edge of a mountain which you see reflected in a lake at the foot of it.

Stanley is brilliant, another great example of his cli-fi and deft weaving of fact with speculative fiction to help readers understand and comprehend wicked problems. Yet this is an indulgently long read at 563 pages. Physically holding up a 563 page hardback novel is more challenging than getting through it! The two protagonists, were neither despicable nor particularly likeable, although had endearing moments.
