OMG the feels! There are so many conflicting emotions from the monster and Victor. I really felt for the monster in this. The book references Paradise Lost several times so I suggest reading that first (or a Sparks Notes) also having some knowledge of Christian perspectives and history helps.

Good book. Had to read it for University. Very informative but fairly basic with it's information. It won't really lead you on but presents enough information to allow the reader to want to research more for clarity or further interest.
