Such a good time. I live for rep that is encourages you to be balanced, happy, and just in a good place. I’m trying to make a “my person” reading rec list. I think this would make the cut on multiple counts

5 stars from me. I’m going to level with you it might too slow for some. I think this is slower than most slow burns. Heads up.

He fell first. He fell day 1. Just it took him a while to tell her and b for her to see him as more than her rival.

They also share bffs. Cade is Kenneth’s bff from childhood and they’re still roommates in college. Cade is Mal’s bff since the first day of college. He has bff duties with both of them. I read book 2. I’m trying to remember all my Kenneth moments. Read it out of order.

Tell me all your health care needs: blood pressure, sugar, and all the particularities for you to be good finesse.

Ed Edd and Eddie — I would have used that nickname obnoxiously.

Someone check on Keaton. I wanna know what the hell is going on with this dude!!!

They are in a competition with each other for an internship only one of them can get and they both need to graduate. But still they both actually respect each other’s drive, and goals. It shows. This is winning with me just for the public health rep alone.

“I need you” drop everything and go x mutual

The slow burn that this was!! Tempered and careful this is a new fave. It’s mostly quite wholesome. Intentional and calm. Respectfulness and patience all around. It took me 4 weeks to get to read this ( 5 sittings). I like it for the heavy emphasis on acceptance : apology accepted but not needed. That’s the vibe. Copilot is big for these two. Healthy and happy.

Planning my tbr down to sec if I can help it. I more or less know that I’m not requesting an arcs that aren’t already on my list. The other priority is to read the books I’ve already bought. I don’t buy a lot but I have a bought lately. (They were dollar deals and they were sort of on my wishlist.) Then we have 3 or so that carried overs from last year and then books I requested my lib buy and they actually did.

I am overdue for a checkin. This is just as remarkable as the previous books. But i don’t why it took me so long to realize this the first trilogy I’ve read by Suri. All of her other series are stand alones. This is her first series ender. I really like this conflict of the yaksas being more than what the ahiryani bargained for. Bhumika my heart. Ofc already loved Jeevan. Malini trying to destroy them without

Just read prologue: this is why she's one of my favorite fantasy authors. She really is that good. This series is truly one of the best sff series out there. I think deserves a defense from the too much romance chatter. I think it establishes the economic/cultural troubles more than romance.

We are back.

It’s been days since I have been able to get a moment to read this. Oh but they’re so adorable and PURE. Like the nicest. Joy in one. This is a very sweet book so far. Nothing overly amorous at all. Insulin pump demonstration. Cheering for your rival. the almost first kiss. just a eye contact scene. slow quiet feelings being realized. I am loving it so hard.

Mannerisms really work. I love Mal so much too. I like her discussions about achievement, planning, and staying busy. Building a full life. Healthy habits. Simple setting but a good fulfilling life. Intellectually rigor. I think good apologies and exits .

never has editing a resume been romance backdrop til today. when it’s done well as it is here. guess it freakin works. this is also he fell first and long ago. they have this little competition the brain bowl. he enjoys it but it’s an excuse for them to hangout. he reminds me a lot of Bo from Out on Limb. He’s just good. Responses they’re just him. it’s wouldn’t be special on anyone else but it is.

I really like them. Eddie and Gray. I like internship means a lot to Gray. I enjoy that he really likes biostats. academic rivals when contextualizes with actual details and incorporate interest naturally. ex/ mal - eddie has diabetes I and he’s asking her about her specific protocol and habits. It’s coming off as interest in sci, management, and it’s prof q but social moment but that’s something he does

sweet pea. Gray being like make sure you don’t ditch Mal like that ever again to Cade. It would benefit him. He wants time with her. But it made her feel terrible. I absolutely love him for this. Mal goodness she’s her guilt for speaking about his privilege. His being lit’s alright. Her being like no it’s not. I’m reading this out of order. Yeah. they’re too GOOD. Niceness is not overrated when it’s done like this.

I love their competitiveness. This is the type of rivalry I enjoy. I finally noticed the titles. Clever. I am really enjoying the diabetes rep. Active insulin and blood sugar monitoring. A metabolic disease. Biostats love him. Ms via Nan. Medical anxiety included in the warning. All the amazing public health rep.

Jarvis is very good therapist. I liked the crutch realization, acceptance, shame, and happiness. The mh rep from 70 to end is 5 Star. Also Angel and Pen are totally together , right?

4.5 stars from me. Count me in for book 2.

I think this was a slow burn ish. Once they get together 50-70% pt is just at standstill. That’s story progression you don’t go straight up or down. I liked everything until 50 and again after 70 to the end.

CW trigger warnings are crucial. Both of these character are in the deep end. That is not apparent to both of them but it to the reader. There’s half hearted confession. I’m like you . It from darker place.

We’re at that moment . There’s connection that’s formed between our protagonists because of it.

He pulls her back. It’s not something Josie admits immediately she starts find comfort in his knowing what she was going to do, the ways he starts entering her life.

cw: suicide attempt
i think it’s crucial to mention trigger warnings for this book. It’s first thing that happens.

I think for a long time I avoided anything that was too triggering. I can admit that I have complex feelings about being alive. It’s this feeling Anna Borges explains really well in her essay in the Outline “I’m not always very attached to being alive.”

I liked this overall. I might have liked it more if it wasn’t fantastical.

I think anyone who enjoys South Asian fantasies will enjoy this too. Kaikeyi fans especially. There are similar trajectories that’s something I enjoy. Marie Lu or Sue Lynn Tan readers too.

One of the things I think low key brilliant is that Indians were open to trade. They had lengthy history of it. But this idea of trying colonize people instead having to pay them fairly. That’s something that isn’t in the conversation.

I like the ending about sending the boats out immediately practically speaking.

I love Nalini’s intro. I think this idea of addressing duplicity is so much more like real women. I think the twist was good. I felt like it should have got their attention. Why did he believe so strongly? The question I have the argument that you’re paying them not to kill you as opposed them choosing not to kill you begin with.

Mangaluru.

For me 30-60% was when it got better.

I liked this as a historical fiction. Not as much for fantastical elements.

I am really excited for bk 2 to see how it goes into historical fiction elements.

I am glad I took the time to get back into this. Honestly this is a scifi corporate action who dunnit. Fonda charms with older characters but also does competence so well. Our second was savy. I think conveying this as magnetic when someone elite was the main focus without overshadowing is a gift. it’s compelling and mysterious. You think your guesses pan out until things change again-that’s the fun of it.

It feels like a month since I last read this. The pov is both unexpected initially but also something I kinda had in mind.

It’s very interesting learning about there world, the careers, and just character embodiment. Fonda really truly has a knack for detailing. This is a new pov new character but he’s moving the story forward so uniquely.
