Though Milbank's prose can be thick as molasses (almost to the point of sounding like laughable nonsense), he scores some big points with me in the way he presents his archeology of social theory. In deconstructing "positivism" (which he doesn't so much concretely define but narrate, which is itself a clue to Milbank's process and larger point), Milbank also begins to offer an interesting Catholic alternative.
