Having finished the first story, which was very strange, I’m not sure if I want you to read this one right now. Maybe I’ll come back to it.

Funnier than I expected! I like this line that the MC said to Gimbal, who was babbling about post-modern fiction, “You actually think you’re saying something that makes sense.” (That’s exactly how I feel every time Trump opens his mouth and I wish someone would say those words to him.)

So, now, based on one comment, the book is set after 1982. I was in college in the 80s and this book doesn’t feel like 1980s. Things like referencing Beach Blanket Bingo, a 1965 movie. Culturally. I’m not getting a 1980s vibe.

Really interesting! If it wasn’t so late, I would finish it. I’ll save it for tomorrow. It has a similar feel as On the Beach by Nevil Shute. Waiting and anticipating the inevitable and the human response.

I’m confused what year it is! One reference to the moon landing led me to believe it was 1969. Now there is a reference to Saddam Hussein, who was in office starting in 1979, and a mention of a Charlie Sheen movie and references to OLD hippie music like For What it’s Worth (1967). I think it’s late 70s and that the moon landing reference was a mistake. Other than this confusion, the book is really good!
