I don't know if I can finish this one. The meandering story line and the vocab are killing me!

I've been working on this one for over a year now, but have now recommitted so as to move on more quickly to Pagnol's Marseilles Trilogy and Au Revoir La-Haut, which are currently waiting on my bookshelf.

Really was getting into this one, but then I got the flu and my head hurt too much to read anything. Looking forward to continuing this weekend.

I took a two-year break with this one. Nothing like jet lag induced insomnia to get me interested in the crazy history of the central continent again. I'm quite enjoying this in the wee hours of the morning.

Christopher is on page 125 of 797 of Le Comte De Monte Cristo (The Count of Monte Cristo, #2)
Two scenarios: (1) Tome II uses completely different vocabulary than Tome I, and that's making me feel inept, or possibly (2) After 1,000 or so pages of this story I'm finally understanding more vocabulary, but also realizing how much vocabulary I don't know. Alas, the paradoxes of reading this book.

Going much better than I thought. I fall asleep at night feeling like I've discovered some kind of magical power or miracle being able to understand this book in French.

Christopher is finished with Landmarks
With a cover like this, it's hard to go wrong. Macfarlane shares his favourite land writers and the words they use to describe their lusty terrestrial attachments.

I bought this book in the Cotswold village of Broadway, marched right in and grabbed it off the shelf. Surprised, the cashier said, "that's the fastest sale I've made all day!"

I'm afraid I judged this book by it's cover. The cover is great; the writing is pretty bad.

I so love the contemplative tangle of this, but I don't think I've got it in me to finish.

I'm only ten pages in and yet I feel like I've discovered Hardy for the first time. I think we're going to be friends from here on out. Sorry about all the fights we had in college.
