Finished Bell Jar a long time ago & have since reread it several times. Esther's spiral into severe depression mirrors that of my own of mental struggles w/ evocative and richly detailed accounts of situations and mental states that are often difficult to capture by those afflicted including myself. Some moments are so crude to the point of being humorous...I guess Slyvia Plath really did not like Black or Asian ppl!
