for once I'd like to read a book where the female mc doesn't end up at odds with the other 'bitchy/mean/etc' girl over the supposed male lead. I'm so done with the overused and unnecessary female rivalry in all the books. it would have been so refreshing to read that evangeline found mare's impromptu lightning display extremely cool and the two girls became fast friends with mutual respect for each other's abilities.
