Pai Hsien-yung's Crystal Boys is apparently the first Chinese-language novel to take up the topic of (modern/postwar) homosexuality! I wonder if Pai read Mishima's Confessions of a Mask or Forbidden Colors, though Pai wrote Crystal Boys 30 years after Mishima's texts.
Crystal Boys I think continues Forbidden Colors's question of age, which is something that was merely latent in the latter.
