Wow, the chapter by Beeke was excellent. First time I've read anything by him.

Peter Adams' chapter was very helpful as I prepared to teach on Gal 3.

Ps 51 - Belcher explains how even psalms of confession apply to Christ. "Jesus can pray Psalm 51 as our representative and priest before God" (p. 87). He bears and confesses our sins on our behalf.

Ch 3 by Derek Thomas - very good!

Ch. 1 Mohler - He says "the central purpose of ministry is the preaching of the Word" (p. 7). Seems like an overstatement. Glory of God? Equipping the saints for ministry? Presenting each person complete in Christ?

I fear some pastors neglect other ministries of the Word (one-on-one, discipleship, counseling, etc.) because they "preached for an hour on Sunday.

Ps 88 - "Because Jesus experienced the dark night of the soul we are assured that darkness will not be the last word" (p. 76).

Ps 46 - "No matter what upheavals take place in the world, God's kingdom and the new Jerusalem will one day be triumphant because Jesus is the divine warrior who will defeat all his foes" (pp. 64-65).

Section 2 (pp. 113-76) really needs to be a separate book. Good material on the story of the Bible (as told thematically). But felt like a long sidebar from a book that otherwise focuses on hermeneutics.

Ps 49 - Wealth cannot save, but Jesus can redeem me from death.

Very helpful manual on interpreting the psalms Christocentrically.
